I had a `95 summit which I put UFO`s in and re-jetted. I got better throttle response and what felt to be more power. I also had K&N filters, Pipe and Can. And I upgraded the rear suspension, I think you already have it with the `96.

Depends on who you talk to. some guys say that they improve throttle response in the low and mid-range, some guys say don't bother unless you do other stuff (head work, polish & port etc.)

OH! whats something like that worth and are they really effective?
I think it was worth it on my `95. I had a can and K&N`s, so my thinking was more air in...more air out. I think they cost about $100 for the set. If you look at the carb`s sliders on the rounds, you could see where it can create alot of turbulance, and like what was already said it helps with air flow.

Depending on what kinda price range you are looking at get the 740 big bore kit, i've found them for around 500$, i was going to put the big bote on my 670 but i bought an 800 instead, talk to deano670, he seems like he knows whats going on in the 670 world:)

Im sorry a ufo... im new!!

they are inserts that go inside you round slide of the carb.
they create less turbulence and increase air flow.
worked great on my old Indy 500 . better power ,better throttle response ,better mileage .not sure how they work with rotary intake?

Talk to Ken @ Mountain Magic in Edmonton about stuff for your 670. He is a very knowledgable guy, and has lots of experiance with the 670's.

My bad, how can the rotary valve be tweaked for better throttle response?

Get a #501 rotary valve or send yours to The Crankshop for cutting to the 501 specs (Deano - do you cut these?). Night and day difference.

UFO's not worth the price for the HP increase in my opinion.

Can cut or order. There are many more effective mods in my mind to be made to the 670. Pipes for one, shorty intake and boots, throw the oil inj in the bushes. A very sweet port and polish top and bottom;) Slick the hair back in the carbs and you have got yourself a VERY competitive twin for a relatively small expense. Will it keep up with todays tech YES OHHH YES:eek:

Deano, what's the reason for throwing out the oil injection?? Seems like such a pain in the azz to premix all the time.
