humm a stick is better is that why a duramax run 99.8 % auto i have seen it on the drag strip time and time again auto is faster i dont care how u shift unless its a $25000 lenko 6 speed tranny and i drive a big truck for a living and when i get out i dont want to shift gears in my superduty

Why don't you got a auto in the semi? I though autos were better? Same idea. Umm, the very very top trucks, mostly running under 11's are autos, but that's because sticks built to that are tough to do, racing is completely different then towing. I'm talking stock for stock, or light mods. And a big reason, because the gm hasn't had a standard for their diesels in how long? A lot different to change to one when they never came from the factory with it.

Put a stock for stock on the track, the stick will outrun it if the driver is good enough.

You just stated what kind of driver you are. A auto getting a load moving quicker then a stick? That's hilarious! If you know how to drive, a stick is faster empty, and MILES ahead loaded. But then again, i've been in vehicles with people who've owned a stick for years and years and still can't drive it. Have you told all the hotshotters they are doing it wrong and need to go to autos? A stock clutch will hold up as well as a stock auto, both not that well. They need to be beefed up to do bigger towing.

So to get your big load moving you would rather work your clutch than let a torq converter do the work. I didn't say i can't drive stick, fawk i own 2 of them. Between the technolgy now and the retards out there that cant drive stick, standards are soon the thing of the past. I takes a dam good driver to out shift a computer.

And the reason you cant and don't want a auto in you semi is one you cant get a 18 speed auto and two think of the size a 18 speed auto would be. You cant tell me that if it was possible to have a auto with enough gears to get those kinda loads moving that they wouldn't have autos in semi's.

So here is my question to you. you have two tranies ones a auto ones a standard both are 6 speeds both have the same gear ratios. which ones better, you cant tell me in your average pick up that the stick would be that much better. I don't mean to start a bigger pissing match but from my point of view I would still take a auto over shere conveniance.

As I said before, if you know how to drive, you will know a stick is superior. Don't mean you have to own one, but should know it is better for many reasons. As said before to, towing capacities mean fawk all. A 3500 SRW can legally haul more then a 3500 DRW, FYI.

Having to drive a standard for a drivers licence would keep a lot of horrible drivers off the road, and would make people need to be more aware when driving.

Wow !!! I'm speechless. Someone so young (and arrogant) that knows so much. I can drive a stick very well thank you, but have a lot more experience than you that says an auto works best in most situations. I've been driving sticks and autos since before you were hatched. Drive whatever you want you little punk, but quit with the uneducated, insulting comments. You're only making yourself look like a jackazz.:nono::rolleyes:

P.S.: Any time you'd like to put two identical trucks (one standard, one auto) against each other, let me know. We can try both an empty and a loaded pull-off. I drive a '11 3500 SRW C/C L/b 4X4 with the Cummins and 68RFE - bone stock for now. If you want to round up the same truck with a stick, let me know so we can arrange a time and I can send you scurrying back under the rock you crawled out from.

I love the internet....

I hate thieves... if they were stealing imaginary internet chit that'd be fine but leave other peoples chit alone.... not sure what enables someone to think and do the chit people do.... our society lacks moral fabric because it's all been used to fabricate social safety nets to protect the lazy and stupid..

:rant::rant:

I fully agree!!! My 12 years old daughter asked me today why people have to steal and I more or less told her the same.

Did I ever state "I am such a good driver"? I said "With a good driver a stick is better". I don't see where I said I was the best driver. Ya I said i've seen people who couldn't shift there way out of a paper bag, but never compared myself in anyway.

Read comprehension FTL........

High Velocity, I have put it to the test multiple times, anytime you want to try stick vs auto let me know I would love to show you, but it will be a cold day in hell before I ever buy a new dodge. Do some research and find out for yourself, because your embarrassing yourself with a lack of knowledge.

I should return some insults, but ya know, sometimes you gotta take the high road. Not everyone can act like a child slinging mud.

Wow, you're so arrogant, you don't even realize you've already taken the low road. I assure you my knowledge far exceeds your's. So round up a truck identical to mine with a stick and let's meet. Time to put up or shut up.

Not getting scared now that you've been called out, are you ? Remember, you started all this crap. Myself and others only challenged your obvious lack of knowledge. I've read the same type of dribble from you on SW as well. The only thing embarrassing to me is that I even allowed myself to stoop to your level.

On another note, my sincere apologies to the original poster for getting involved in this crap that's so far off the original topic.

To whom ever suggested that they do not make automatics in large trucks -they do, and from what I have seen they work pretty good, way more popular in the US than Canada. A lot of fleet drivers who were choked being transferred into an auto truck now won't go back to a manual. Studies have shown that fuel consumption is usually better and the truck gets less abuse. But this is the internet so I can say anything I want and it is true!

I have seen a few in smaller trucks two of our sterling's have autos in them, but there small trucks compared to most highway tractors.

My brother law just brought a big azz freightliner back from Michigan and I too thought it might be corny until I drove it..... Wow makes a inexperienced driver look like a champ! Oh by the way they are called Autoshift transmissions i believe.

actually your statement right there shows what a dumb azz you really are Cyle, i drive all brand new trucks probably about 6-8 per month, modify them to tandem steers etc
aprox 50-60% of them now are being speced with autos, cheaper to maintain and easier to maintain, driver fatigue much less, easier for low speed moving for example on lease etc. the list goes on. the standard trans is becoming a thing of the past as autos are getting better and the manual trans is way out dated.
just sayin.

You both are correct and as I stated previously, I do apologize for getting off track. I personally would rather not get it back after some azz holes have likely bagged the chit out of it. Oilboy mentioned he had full replacement coverage, so may be time to shop for a shiny new Super Duty with the 6.7 PS. So far, I haven't heard anything but good about the new Ford diesel. Who knows, it could be a blessing in disguise.
