If it works as they say it should, that is a cool product. Anyone who has rode both styles unstands the short coming of both setups. Hopefully that shock they use has enough adjustability when in the off position it truly is off.

I modeled this concept last fall with a similar thought, but without the handlebar adjustment. I didn't go through with it, but there are a lot more small geometry challenges in getting this right than I think most would envision. I do think it has merit, and as nice as the remote control is, I think it's over the top in complexity and parts waiting to get tangled in something.

I think there is merit in both of these. There is some R&D factor here they need to recover, the shock is probably the priceiest part. Kudos for Skinz for coming to the market with it, I love the concept, and the design is pretty simple for what it does, there are few parts hanging down there that I would be concerned about but we need to give it a season on the snow to determine durability. Skinz makes a decent product generally. Overall, I just don't find that an uncoupled vs coupled skid limits most folks, its usually their balls and not the sleds abilities.

I'm a technical rider, not really big chute or big hill guy. If I'm on a hill, its usually just for fun, not to make it over. My preference is an uncoupled skid most of the time, and very very rarely do I find that having an uncoupled skid limits me in respect to my riding (even if I need to climb a big hill). I run a little more power than most guys so that helps, but honestly I feel like there would be 3 times a year that this would pay for itself where I absolutely needed to make the top and where a coupled skid would make all the difference. I've been toying with the idea of buying another brand of coupler for around $100 and using it in my skid to see how it works. Since this is Skinz thread I won't detail it here, PM me if you want more info.

Cool idea and this is a great option for maybe the turbo guys that that like how the stock skid rides but want a coupled skid at the right moment.

Holz ran a small float shock on the rear arm to act as a coupler. Likely went away because of the price.

Just the same as skinz, way over priced. Look at the air frames..... still like $500 b&m boards are $350.

Just need some others to make something similar and not mark the price up so much. Look at belt drives, c3s are what $900-$1200??? theres a kit selling in the $600s now from another manufacture.

And peeps said that Polaris introducing the belt drive was a bad thing... LOL competition. You don't need the whole bike, you can buy just the shock (looks like the fox float R for a lowered drag skid - 6.5" long X 1.5").

If it works sign me up. I don't do much climbing but if it helps a hard cut uphill from moving slowly this could be huge. And yes it was holz anyone racing Jackson hole uses there coupling setup on factory classes I believe.

I think this will work amazing as long as it the dial on the shock doesn't freeze and not want to to turn. the mountain bikes usually have a lock out on the shocks which is what I think they are using so you should be able to set it to almost nothing and when locked out it should be very hard to move but will still give before bending anything. I will be calling for more information for sure. I have a 3"x156" track on a turbo xm with stock skid. I love it for boondocking but would be great to keep the front end down on a climb. I hope it works.

Look fairly easy to make yourself, all the major parts are easily available, shock is about 500 retail, the levers are 75 for the old style which it looks like Skinz is using or 105 for the new style one available from Fox. The brackets to mount the shock to the skid and the rear suspension are very simple to build. I might try to make this myself and see how it works.

yah but im just saying like take the shock and remote off this kit and take if off a bike. what do you get???? You have a ton of parts from the bike, this kit you have some little brackets that probably cost the same as hand guard mounts.

its basically a fox rp23 with a fox CTD remote lever added with a couple links to couple to the arm.Then double the price. and thats what you have
