Staying in the Renshaw parking lot

Has anyone ever brought an RV and stayed in the Renshaw parking lot overnight? I am thinking that 4 of us are going and if I take the all season trailer I can put a machine in the truck box and would take another 3 on a different truck and 2 place trailer as we would have to take 2 trucks anyways. The savings based on 3 days of riding would be impressive
3 nights motel x 2 rooms @ $129.00 per night (approximately) = $774.00
Food brought from Edmonton. per person instead of eating in town. Breakfast $12 Lunch (gas station sandwich) $8 Dinner $25.0 x4 x 3 = $540 Breakfast in the trailer, smokies for lunch and dinner in the trailer.
All machines fueled upon Edmonton departure and jerry cans from Edmonton to fill up. I am sure McBride is $0.20 / litre more than home. 4 x 3 x 30 L per day = $84.00 saved
Booze from Alberta instead of BC $80 saved


Amazing. Not a single penny for the BC tax coffer.

Or not a penny spent locally. Maybe if you need parts or stuff fixed you can save even more $$$$$ by going back to Edmnton to get it done.That way any local places won't get any of your Alberta hard earned $$$$$$$

These small communities work hard to keep access open and to try and provide services and a living for there families and help the community.
If you chose to cut them out it’s your choice and lose I guess .
The groomer operators , club members , trail maintenance folks , local SARS, B&B don’t travel from Edmonton they are in the community .
Please try to understand this .

I understand the negative feedback. We as a group have spent a lot in McBride over the years. This year is different post covid. Sledding as a hobby has become very expensive. New belts at $200 , $80 for 3.75 L of oil. A new sled is $23K. I have enjoyed many years at McBride. The town is great but sledding has lost it appeal to me.

Preaching to the choir that chit has gotten expensive.

Want to sled more? Don't buy a 23k sled. Spend 13k on one and spend 40 days on the hill with the other 10k, while supporting local businesses and families.

We have done this before in 100 mile
but staging is 75 min from town so we hate wasting all the drive time
sat dish and gen set dont even miss any hockey games

Stay home. Mcbride doesn't need your support. Or should I say lack of support. You think Covid was any easier on the people of Mcbride. While the covid mandates may have kept you from going to Mcbride, you not going didn't cost you anything, but you not going cost the community dearly. I personally haven't been back to Mcbride for 3 years. Yes I have lost the desire to go snowmobiling, but that does not mean I will not visit Mcbride again. And I will spend my hard earned money in that fine community. Be it for fuel , groceries or a place to camp. If everyone had your attitude towns and communities like Mcbide will slowly fade away.

I'm a firm believer tht you have to pay to play. If you want to play in someone elses community it's only fair that you support that community.

There I said my peice, now feel free to rebutt if you dare.

If the guy was rich I’m sure he pop off $$$ in town.
3 years of Covid has me paying attention. The younger “Old” me built 50 grand Yami sleds for bc Every season. New me is hauling Alberta gas. Eating wife’s sandwiches and buying weed by the pound to save money. Lol

It's sounds like your group does not have RV experience especially winter camping. Designated 4 season camper is similar to 4 season tires, not real good in the winter. There are full time living campers that are better suited to winter months & price goes up dramatically, what is the camper budget?

Then you have to heat & power, 40lb propane bottles & a good size gen set.

Water & holding tanks, the tow trailers generally do not have large capacity. Four stinky sledders for three nights is going to take some serious fresh water & large capacity black & grey.

There are a multitude of other factors that go into your winter camping plan, if you have not done it before.......it will be an eye opener.

I have a lot of trouble with the BC tax, it's not fault of local business owners. The nature of the province & the luring back country brings on higher cost to build highways & fight fires. The cost of entertainment.

Enjoying the local experience is participating in it.

I say go for it. Camping is awesome and spending time with friends and family and sleds is very important. Sounds like your group will be donating $300 to grooming for the weekend which they should be very grateful for I would hope after some on here have openly trashed McBride grooming operations. Whatever makes you happy you should do. Public opinion isn’t what it used to be.

We have been sled camping for close to 20 years now and is by far the best fun.

We do it to cut down on drive times and to have camp fires and party hard.

Some of the best times ever have been sled camp trips.

We don’t see many or any people where we tend to ride.

You may want to check with the groups managing the trail system
And parking lots. I know you cannot camp in the Frisbee or Boulder parking lots in Revelstoke
