I wonder how long until they put that into their industrial equipment as well

so far, starlink isn't in the positioning industry. These tractors would be using starlink for data service only to supplement corrections for positioning equipment that is already on the tractor. (trimble, topcon etc) That being said, the positioning industry is currently using about 40 global positioning satellites over 3-4 constellations. If starlink released a GPS service for positioning with its 7000+ satellites in the sky it would be a game changer for the precision positioning industry.

JD link is also used for sending live machine data. Error codes fuel burn etc. And if they could link their existing positioning box to the cloud via starlink it could be an option. Them or Komatsu will be first. Cat will be last.

Not to mention that machine data is sold to commodity traders, things like yield from a combine or what type of crop is planted on how many acres, so they can take long/short positions before the farmer even has a chance to take his crop to the elevator.

You'd know best, but hasn't the global positioning industry pretty much peaked for accuracy with GPS technology? Isn't that why RTK (Real Time Kinematics) exists, so a ground station of a known position can send out a signal to correct for the inherent errors present in GPS devices?

Would having many hundred of satellites to connect to at any given time actually provide better accuracy?
