It comes with the cable that you need to plug into the 240V 30A plug on your portable gen set. Costs about the same as a transfer switch and the labour to install it. We've sold a couple, just need to call the fortis guys to pull the meter and plug it in for you

I have a buddy that has a kid is electrician so he did the wiring of the automatic transfer switch . The system is full auto and works very well . The wife will never have a reason that supper isn't ready when I come home from work . Lol

Neat unit. Got quoted $1650.00 from a dealer in Edmonton...seems a bit steep. Wonder what Fortis charges for the time to install? If your price is better PM me please. thanks.

Bought on line out of Ontario for around 1000 bucks. The Fortis guy popped it on in 5 minutes. Done deal. Got a 7500w genny with e-start...even the ol lady can hook it up. Thanks, Summiteer!

Im in the market for a Generac generator for the cabin. How did this one perform? Pros/cons?

I was surprised how many Eastern Canada and USA folks have back-up power.

They had 7 ish black outs that were not very nice,,, 2 of those 7 were super nasty...

There has been 1 too 1 1/2 day short stint ones too.
Even 6 ish hour black-out put a stop to farm and business operations.

It could be wise too consider some kinda system even if it's a simple gen-set that a person can plug in fridge, freezer, other stuff too...

A few extension cords would come in handy in the event of black-down.... LOL... That adds a tactical saying.

Any-who,,, our extras are Flash lights with batteries taped too the sides at the front door.

Wal-mart electric plug-in radiant heaters,,, 2200 watters if I recall.
And a propane bottle stove for making tea as we wait for power too come on.

We rotat our gas and Diesel supplies on a on going bases.
Take some for the vehicle, add new.
2 too 4 ish months as we rotat blend. Ha

Still working great. Ran for 22 hours during that last windstorm. The best part about it is the automatic start and stop. It is louder then my inverter generator. A little quieter then a lawn mower. I'm not concerned about the noise where it is situated on my property. More then enough power to run my furnace, fridge, freezer, water pump, sewage pump and sump pump.

My unit has just under 15 hours in the past three years . It does draw some attention when all the other houses are dark and I'm watching the big screen . Lmao
