OK, so what do you think the near future holds for today's sleds?
I heard that Doo is supposed to have a larger displacement motor in the works... something like a 950.. to fit into the XP chassis.

So what's next? any ideas?

geez things have evolved drastically from when i started riding the mountains, my first mountain sled was a 1995 600 vmax 136, so from there to now its unbelievable, granted the prices have went up accordingly too. i think technology is awesome and i cant wait to see what the future holds, super lightweight with lots of hp that meets our polution regs. and not a untouchable price where most can not attain.

The snowmobile of the future will bring many changes.
Firstly the computerization geared to providing a safer ride for the user.
Any steep incline will throttle down the fuel supply allowing the snowmobile to safely slow down with cockpit displays warning of possible avalanche terrain.
Riding a groomed trail will alert the computerization to disallow pinning of the throttle, allowing for a trail to remain mogul free even after 400 snowmobiles pass over it.
Other features may include body mass heat sensors allowing for your snowmobile to come to a dead stop to allow the safe passage of the roaming caribou.

X2 I just luv it:d:d:d

Hey, maybe Jamaha will come out with a helium tunnel to compensate for the PWR steering weight? I still think the snowmobile chassis will start looking more dirtbike-ish with the driveline and suspension/chassis design getting more efficient. I'll take a gas gauge that actually works! I enjoy looking back in old magazines 15-20 yrs ago to see "what the future sled will look like". Amusing. W

Rep'd ya' for that one!

My insight tells me....the greenies have been heard and listened to!

We will only have one trail in each area, town or city (two in Revy; one to Boulder and one to Frisby) with no venturing off the trail or else immediate confiscation will be the result! This trail will go to a height of land and turn around.

All will be quiet 4 strokes and heavy! Two-up seats and there has to be two riders per machine so that 2 can see the scenery for the price of one (so to speak).

There will be no warm-up cabins as they distract from the true "back-country experience". This way the firewood will still remain as homes for the little creatures that inhabit the rotting wood, no pollution from the wood stoves, no environmental foot print, and definitely no reason to go out riding during the night time.

Sure am glad I'm an "old fart" and don't have to get involved in this fight!!
