Temp looks high but egts are low it looks like but depends on probe placement as well
What was the temp at when it quit?
Our 600 the cooling sucked as well another reason we dumped it. Arctic cats coolers are way to small IMO on these sleds a lot of Hp there with little cooling not sure what the 800 makes but the 600 would make 156 on c12 and 150 on premo.

Get some ice scratchers for it if you are riding a trail...

Scratchers won't help a cat unless you mount them to the belly pan lol exchanger is to far forward the one on our 600 was right at the front behind the drivers barely half the seat long

My son took it out field riding etc today. It ran 80-95 on the temp all day in the deeper stuff. He called me about 3 hours into the ride with his buds. Pull rope wouldn't go back in. He gets towed back and I drive over there. Remove the twin pipes and nitrous bottle to get at the recoil. The return spring was broken. So I repair the end that anchors to the cover. I just get the EGT probes re-installed and all I hear is BRAAP and see tail lights. Lol. Gone again.

According to all the boys, he's flopping it on its side and carving 360's. haha. He might be better than I've seen.

So I ordered a pump gas billet head from Speedwerx for it. How hard is the head to change on this sled? I don't like spending 75 bucks on 112 for 19 litres.

My 18 y/0 son has been riding in the mountains with me since about 8 years old...... Had a 600 mountain max, until about 5 or 6 years ago, and we got him into this 800 rev 151"....... He's rocked it ever since.
He just put a wrap on it, and it's lookin pretty good

Should just have to drain off some coolant the unbolt it and swap it with the new one.

I love that wrap. I have it on my Pro, except a little brighter in the colour department.

So I went to the Whitecourt poker rally. Sled ran like a top all day Saturday. Near the end of the day, one EGT started to climb and climb until the Digitron pegged out and went blank on that window. Both cylinders ran 800-900 all day long so I thought maybe a probe malfunctioned. I ran it for another hour or so and it ran crisp. Started out this morning and got an hour in.... It bogged once. I feathered through it. It took off for a second and died. No compression on the mag side. :( Coolant temp was 100-120 with the scratchers down. I suspect seized rings. Hot seized? Plugs look good. I'm gonna tear it apart tomorrow and look. Anything else I should look for? I've never had a bad crank seal. Any advice on that?

And one more just like it on the back side. So a "3 corner seize"

I never found the piece missing from the piston. I'm guessing it got chucked out the exhaust.

What do you guys think caused it?

That's detonation, if you remove the rings you will likely see some pitting on the bottom where the detonation was hammering the ring into the land. Either bad gas or it needs higher octane juice. :) You could cc it and get the actual compression ratio and that would tell exactly the octane it requires.

I was running 112 straight. Machine calls for 110. I've ran it for a couple weeks already. And new fuel that I bought.

Also why would fuel only deto one side? Same fuel goes In both sides.
Possibly plugged jet?
Crank seal?
Clip fell off the needle in the carb?

Something caused that side to get way hot on the exhaust. I am thinking lean condition.

Thanks for the ideas. It ran great until it died. No warning. I have to rejet for the new pump gas head so I'll dig into that. I'm taking the cylinder in now so I'll see what they figure. I'll ask about the crank seal.
