Keeping the durability the same with each of these choices you're considering you'll find its actually easier to lose some weight on the Pro than it is on the Doo. So stock to stock you'll find that the HP difference will remain the same , but the ease of handling and the fun factor that is becoming very evident in the Pro to those who have no preconcieved opinions will also be the same after said weight loss. Whats really surprising and very telling is the large numbers of guys swithcing from Doo to the Pro. Its even creating panic in the doo camp, obvious by the gimmicky silly announcements like a heated glove box and teeter totter thingy and the obvious attempt to immitate the Pro handling just by constantly narrowing the ski stance. Unfortunately its having the opposite effect and actually alienating a lot of doo guys who liked the wide flat feel.

When I sold my xp I was still on the fence as far as doo or pro but once I saw the 13 pro and the doo I was sold on the pro.
With the weight difference am I even going to notice the difference in horsepower?

i was waiting for someone to say that. good point. i dont know what the stock muffler weighs on a 2013 rmk but i can remove the can on the 2013 xm and be within 10lbs of the pro.

Ummm? So what does the Doo muffler weigh? 60 pounds? Cause the wet weight (as per Carls cycle)minus gas has the 2013 Pro at 63 pounds less.

2013 pro 155" 438 pds
2012 Etech 800 164" 501 pds
Apparantly the 2013 XM has also added on a little more pork.

Buy the pro ride it for a season, if you don't like it sell it, it won't be hard to sell for the right price. If you run stock to stock and don't spend a single cent, I'm pretty sure you will be happy with it.
The pro is so damn close with the other two it will come down to rider skill for who outclimbs who. I ride with all three brands and let me tell you the three are pretty damn close. Etec is cheapest to operate by a little bit tho. Enjoy your choice. Sledding is a blast no matter what.

Well I never thought of it but , If anyone should recognize that trait it should certainly be you and maxwell for sure , so I will do some mirror gazing and contemplating. As should you .

Yeah true , but even you know you can't ride a Doo around with no pipe or can. Silly wabbit. As I said, do the same to each, the difference will still be 50 ish lbs. But hey why argue, cause we know, " it rides lighter ", and its stronger and you like it, so have fun. LOL. Someones gotta do the chubby chicks, and i hear they try harder. HeeHee.

lets get it back to the topic for this guy! will you notice a difference oh defiantely you will notice the difference and more than likely take you a little bit of seat time to get used to it compared to your 08 xp. as for weight the 08 doo was the lightest and would be close to the pro rmk weight but the xp had a wider stance so most say it is harder to pull over. you will defiantely notice the 16-15" wide track decrease (we ride with a guy who was hardcore doo guy then went to a pro rmk and he even says it the doo had and has better flotation), you may notice some power differences you may not I know hoping on the pro rmk it defiantely felt like it had some decent power but it was a different power compared to the xp. this being said the doo guys have no problems going were the pro guys go and the pro guys have no problems going were the doo guys go! But when you see a guy who weighs 160 pounds reef on the bars of a new pro to get it to whip around and snaps the steering post off in his hands it really makes you wonder if all this weight taken out is really a good thing???? I know i didnt have fun having to tow the sled from the alberta bc montana border all the way to corbin!!!!

RUN THEM STOCK. ALL THE BRANDS. That is how you will know which is the best. STOCK. OUT OF THE BOX. Modding sleds is a whole different discussion. Of course the sled will be better when modded. Go stock to stock to stock and watch, you will see.

Hey Lenny- You say a poo 155 compared to a doo 164, I didn't think doo made a 164". But not the same you should use a 155 poo to 154 doo. Just thought I get apple for apple. Good luck

I guess the bottom line is you will be extremely disappointed with a pro-rmk even coming from a 2008xp. I know I was after I rode a few different ones. Thought maybe one was a lemon but nope. If you like frolicking around in the meadows it might suit ya. Anyone who says different is just trying to justify there 13000$ mistake.
Maybe when they come out with a decent track and clutch setup it might be more fun. Also needs some chassis adjustments. the running boards are way to wide at the back. Can't sidehill the thing at all.

So to the original question -

What will you notice? Quite a bit. In all honesty, if you don't know what you are going to notice is different it leads me to believe you have never ridden one. That in itself is a mistake. How do you even know you will like how it feels?

But hey its your money, neither I or anyone can tell you what to do with it. So, what were the flaws in the XP that make you want to go to a Pro chassis? Obviously you have read that its flickability is second to none, so right there will be a big difference.

Lets get serious though...

A Pro chassis RMK is a completely different sled than a 08 XP Summit. I almost went for it in 2011. I am so glad I didn't. Its not a sled I like riding. I have never felt comfortable on one. So for me what I don't like:

- the Pro taper bars are too wide for a sled
- the vertical steering is akward because I am used to a Doo
- the running boards are too narrow and fill up with snow quickly leaving you no where to stand
- they don't have a tether which I think is a great safety
- they idle very high, or atleast everyone I have ridden is like 1800-1900 rpm
- none of them seam to have a reverse beep, silly I know, but the little light is barely noticeable, or is that just the ones I have ridden?
- the side panels open up weird and the little screws are a pain
- its ugly

now the middle ground:

- they give up a few ponies but seem to make good use of the power they have
- the 15" wide track is okay, what it gives up in flotation is made up elsewhere
- its light weight...honestly on the snow I still can't notice a huge difference. Its not like I am bench pressing it.

and the good:

- they pop up on the snow well from a standstill
- the price point is better
- fuel economy seems to be slightly better than the etec, but who cares
- the stock skis are a better ski than Doo's DS skis

This is all based on current Pro's and current XP's. the real test I think will be next year comparing a 2013 Pro RMK to a 2013 Summit XM.
