Brooks Solar fields are putting out it's usual 0 MW (Live) . BS giving away more free handouts with no accountability.

Nelson solar plant is producing 0.06 kilowatts for the day, how the hell do people think this is a good idea.

"The Alberta government has been using 100 per cent renewable electricity to power its facilities since 2009, although until now, all of that power has been generated by wind."

What a load of crap. Maybe they subsidized enough projects to produce the equivalent energy consumption that the facilities use, but there is no way that every last kw used was produced by renewables. It's all smoke and mirrors.

I searched too and never found anything except wind monthly forecast vs actual. Seems odd they don't have reports for all generation by type.

No sh*t, the construction is scheduled to start in late 2019.
Pretty sure Sledn is referring to the current solar farm out by Brooks. Its putting out 0MW of power again. Point is that new solar fields will probably put out the same. Another waste of taxpayers dollars.

Do you know the difference between a KW and a kWh?

This hour, Brooks solar installation is again producing 0 KW= 0 KW/h . The wind output of all our sponsored wind farms (1445/MWH rated capability ) = 19MWH. 1% of rated output. These sponsored green powered installations should have to be accountable. Tree huggers only see the dream numbers. Burn our fuel in Alberta to produce and sell cheap power to our borders at a profit. (Government does not know what this profit word means)

I know the difference, they just do not produce any power. You can go back day by day and look at the power produced it is in 15 minute increments ...for the whole year. Huge waste of money for the province, not sure how people get talked into this crap. Don't expect a solar panel to produce enough power to power your car to the end of your driveway.

This could be why…

I run several off-grid solar communication towers. We need approximately 3kW of solar capacity, and 20kWh of battery at a site that consumes an average 75W. We would only need a fraction of this for summer months, but our winters are brutal on these sites. Short daylight hours, many consecutive days with almost no output, and cold temperatures resulting in highly diminished battery capacity. This isn't the ideal place for solar. In the end though, it was cheaper than getting tied to the grid at these particular sites.

February is one of the worst months for solar (low sunlight hours and snow on the modules).

Here is a 100kw install estimated production...

November to February is always WAY below average. July is 3 times the production of December.

I don’t know what to say but modules covered in snow won’t make power. Windmills won’t spin on a calm day. People against solar and wind generation like to cherry pick days where the output is low. Why not use a yearly average to decide ?

One illegal immigrant with a leaf blower could have that cleared up in no time.
Need union made leaf blower and union operator , pay him overtime to clean them up. Might as well start a new government department for this task. That way solar will be profitable. At least the sky is clear.

I agree. Put all cost to build and maintain these operations up. All money paid for land and power infrastructure. All government handouts ,subsidy and employee office , wages and vehicles. Then minus the energy produced for the year total .That is what real companies have to do to stay in business. Not raise everyone else's taxes to make green energy appear beautiful.

Because a yearly average is useless information for anyone but the people trying to push for these white elephants. Any system that isn’t reliable on a day to day basis is of little value. Electricity demand is often highest in the winter when the output from solar is at its worst. Having a solar farm that generates electricity when nobody has a need for it is equally worthless as a system that has zero output. Electrical demand is a dynamic thing, and that’s why generators powered by prime movers are the gold standard. They can increase or decrease output as required. Until some cost effective, environmentally responsible method of storing and releasing electricity on demand is designed, all these green energy schemes are just a very expensive, government subsidized feel good exercise.
