How is it that someone from England or any other location that says "fricken Albertans" is a hypocrite?

OK Ill explain it.

Someone lives in Calgary and travels to Fernie for recreation on a regular basis for many years (some locals call them CaliFernians and is not necessarily meant as a derogatory term), these same Calgarians move to Fernie and then complain all the time about the 'Friken Albertans' coming to their small town paradise. Same thing when I hear the Ski Hill Liftee complaining about all of the 'Friken Albertans" coming for the Family Day Holiday...usually said with an Australian or English accent. HYPOCRITES.

Here is another example. Friends of mine. Left BC for Alberta because ****ty boom bust cycle they never could get could ahead in BC Do well in Alberta and get a vacation place in BC then able to early retire to vacation place. Now they are happy to have blue and white plates again so they don't get abused for having the red and white. Now they abuse the Albertans. Lol

Easy to be a hypocrite. But they are still my good friends.

I know I wish all the imigrants would stop coming to sylvan. and not because of Corona, but at the the same time I'm glad they are free to come here and can't blame them for wanting to get out of the city. not everyone gets to live on the lake or in a mountain paradise. at least they can visit....

Nah most people from Alberta are great. There's certainly some that bring that attitude. Many on here seem to have that belief when they're on the internet but I bet around a campfire you'd never hear it, funny how that works. I never lived in Calgary or AB but was contemplating a move, my wife did for a couple years.

sorry I was talking to Brandon

Oops...he needs to lighten up too.lol

I'm pretty easy going just don't be a douchebag or I'll call you out on it.

most BC'ers are great too. BC is a great place to visit for Albertans and Alberta is a great place for BC'ers to come work.

Buddies from the coast are up working in Edmonton right now, I'm not spraying their plates or telling them to beat it.

I could do Vancouver but it would take about $10M. Nice condo in a highrise and a place up between Squamish and Pemberton for the weekends. Porsche turbo for the sea to sky and leave a truck and toys at the weekend place.

all you can do is laugh at the attitudes shown by some BC folk. a good buddy of mine was born and raised in BC, in Valemount specifically. he worked for CN, then got into crane work and went to LaPrairie Crane, a BC company. they needed someone to open and head up their branch here in Grimshaw about 25 years ago and he got the job. I met him then, became good friends, was awesome to go to Valemount sledding with someone that had an "in" with the locals. met a lot of great people, had some pretty epic adventures. not once have I been hassled there for being an Albertan.

so about 5 years ago he buys a place near Greenwood, on Jewel Lake. gorgeous little spot, a crazy mix of locals that have owned land there for years and the rich people from everywhere else that bought in and fix these places up with big money. he can explain to the neighbors that he is BC born and bred, but works in AB...but he will always be frowned upon there as "the Albertan" next door. he's the nicest guy ever, he could sell ice to an Eskimo. he's got the gift.

I've gone there every summer since he bought the place...made some good friends in Grand Forks already, most of the people around there are friendly and don't give a sh!t where you're from...as long as you're not a dick. I think the vocal locals get most of the attention.

My cousins own the property on both sides of the road as you turn off highway 3 and head up to Jewel Lake. Nice country. Fire came real close to the house on the right a few years ago
