So due to to circumstances outside my control my scrambler got totaled, insurance wrote it off yesterday.
Well building the same machine again would not be any fun it would just be depressing so I put a deposit on a Outlander 1000 XT yesterday and ordered a set of 30"Mudder Inlaws as well as the snorkel kit and rad kit from BRP. So couple questions...#1 Anybody install the snorkel and rad kit on a gen 2 before? Is it worth paying to get it done?...#2 Is the new Visco lock that much better than the earlier ones? #3 does anybody know how much a hit man costs?:nono:

Why do you say that? I realize the front diff will be dissapointing compared to the polaris but it also won't break as often.

I am almost officially sick of quad shopping, in two years this will be #4. Sportsman 800 didn't have enough power so I bought a Scrambler 1000, then I bought my wife a Kymco maxxer only for my Scrambler to get totaled. So yeah hoping this one will last and the 3 year warranty was super appealing.

you will like the machine... one thing thou... having those big heavy tires will slow you down quite a bit in the acceleration department... stock clutching is quite inferior.... you only have the outside sheeve that rotates... the inside one is stationary... and that is one reason that you siip belts quite often...even with stock tires.... with those big lugs you will be replacing the belt quite often...

a clutch kit is only a mask on can-am stock clutching.. so save that money and get aftermarket primary... no. 1 ... they have a smaller one way bearing therefore letting you use your bottom end better.. 18 to 20% smaller depending on which clutch you get....
also both sheeves now rotate and the one way bearings are so much better then OEM.... one ways on stock primary always has to be serviced with a special isoflex grease where as on aftermarket they don't need servicing.

you can stick to your stock secondary but tuning with a aftermarket primary will give you more over rev then you would like... for the best performance
you can get buy a aftermarket secondary....

the ideal thing is to mate a STM roller secondary with the primary..... then you can bring back the power that the bike had with stock tires and beyond..

The thing that I can t understand is a person buys big lug mud tires... to increase the performance of the quad when in deeper mud.... but what your doing is actually slowing the stock clutch down and thereby slowing down the time it takes to shiftout and thereby making your machine sluggish....and slower and less performance in the mud

but what do I know.... lol

the QE visco lock is good.... just as good as popo now.... was not the case back in 07- 09... but in 10 the QE came out....

how did you writeoff a new 1000 scrambler so quick? and why not the XTP with the good shocks.... worth every penny when you run large tires.. even worth it running small tires...

the standard suspension does not even compare to the Fox full adjustable shocks... iits day and night... and if a person is on the heavy side... so much more that you need the good shocks

I let somebody else touch it.

XTP just seems like a lot for nothing to me, I dial shocks as tight as the can and intend on putting spring spacers in to snug it up more. I figure if your slam the shocks so tight they barely work then it doesn't really matter how good a shock it is. I am only 200lbs so not overly big.

What's the point of stiffening them up so much? Seems to me like your only destroying any comfort and handling you might have.

make full use of your CV angle vs ground clearance without increasing it to much, don't ever ride fast and find personally I spend most of the ride standing not sitting so the soft suspension is just like trying to stand up drunk.

Part cost part just not wanting to build the same machine, loved my scrambler but building it again wouldn't be fun if that makes sense.

And the broken parts. I know, I miss that ever time I ride the Renny.....

I'll be honest: I think the Scrammy is probably a higher performing machine ....but PoPo has a lot to learn about longevity.

I thought I burnt the crap outta my belt the other day....pulled er all apart today; shes beauty... 2 seasons on that belt and looks new.
