Bought this 2011 Colorado for my daughter as her first vehicle. Very good shape for the mileage(195k). Went through it , changed front axle seal and cv axle, fixed the console lid, plugs, cleaned throttle body, ..etc

Well then I pulled out the the plastic box liner and things escalated from there. Lol…. found some rust and and decided since it was all the way through I’d take the box off and fix it. Then spray raptor liner in it. Now I’ve knocked the rust off the frame and painting that. Also planning to powder the wheels gloss black. My daughter is helping a bit so that’s awesome she’s showing interest.

Thanks. Kinda a rabbit hole but I figure if my daughter learns some stuff well worth it.

Right on! You in Lethbridge? That ufa looks real familiar. Feel free to give a shout if you need assistance with anything on it, I have a body shop and a sand blasting shop in Lethbridge!

Cool. Yup was Lethbridge. I’m in the Hat tho. I may need help. Lol. Planning on stitch welding in 16 gauge cold rolled sheet metal in the cutouts. Then por15 underneath and raptor bed liner over the top.

As for the frame was going to degrease, metal prep, por15 and chassis black top coat (only because I have this stuff already).

Well templates made. Tried working with the 16 gauge but I think 18 gauge would be easier to bend.

Inline 4 or Inline 5?

You used to be able to order the ext cab and crew cab with the 5.3 V8, were fun little trucks.

Unfortunately most of them around here met an untimely end; short wheel base, 16yo with a heavy foot, and ice were a dangerous combo.

Well stuck with the 16 gauge. Working out alright. I originally was going to make the larger pieces 2 piece to mimic the overlapping joint like factory but worried it will just rust if I can’t get paint between. Can’t see why they can’t be one piece.
