In efforts pay cash for the 2013 XM, I've decided to sell my 2500hd and deck and buy a el cheapo small truck to haul my new XM on.

I only use my truck to haul the sled and my trials bike anyway and the only reason i've had a full size / deck is because my buddy doesn't have a truck.. well I guess it's time he buys a truck if he wants to keep sledding lol

My budget is $3500 and been looking at S10, S10 ZR2, ranger, older tacoma, Dakota, nissan pickup maybe ?

Probably going to build a ghetto deck as I don't think any of these smaller trucks have enough width between wheel wells to fit a sled in. might even take the bed off and build a flat deck

Any input or suggestion is welcome.

Find a Dakota with a 4.7 in it. Awesome little engines. I'm selling mine, but that's only to go to a same truck, with less km, and a manual transmission.

good deals out "east"

that tundra would probably be 2x as much in BC .. but still not worth a drive back from Edmonton, though I could stop for some waterslide action at west ed, that might make the trip worth while ;)

94.5 7.3 powerstroke, custom flat deck fits 2 sleds, 5 speed manual. and it fits the budget!! doesn't fit the "small truck" criteria I started out with though .. but might just do the trick !

There's this old taco, v6 5 spd, tilting flat deck .. little more than the powerstroke and only hauls one sled, but it doesn't look as redneck !!! lol

Its just missing the rebel flag!

I would also look for a taco. Easy to get parts for, easy to wrench on. Tough to find one that hasn't been beet though.

Spend a little more $4500 and find a clean GM/Chev C/K 1500 with moderate miles.

as it turns out that toyota pick up has a solid axel swap and is in pretty good shape .. gonna go see it tomorrow, might end up bringing it home with me

only problem is, it will surely turn into another "toy" rather than a vehicle (no pun intended)

Well there it is .. rode the bike out there, looked it over, no rust anywhere, drove fine, everything worked (incl the AC!!) clean inside and out, paid the nice man, loaded up the bike and drove home :D

just have to get that bike out of there and test fit the sled.. it's a tilt deck so I'm trying to figure out if I want to use a ramp, or extend the deck, tilt it and drive the sled right on there..

haha .. the crazy thing is, the payload on this little sucker is 1400 lbs, since I don't need a deck, I can technically get away with 2 sleds and my skinny buddy in there :D

not that i'd ever do anything that crazy !

I'm surprised it doesnt have a higher payload cap. My 95 T100 cap was almost 2200 lbs because its curb weight was only 3800lbs.
