I'm getting a new set of skis for my M8 and went to the sled show to pick up a set but couldn't find anyone that had any. Anyways after looking at the two skis I must say I don't know which way to go. I've heard nothing but good things about the Sly dogs but to me the slp's look like they would work really well. I'm looking for something to improve on floatation and sidehilling. Thought I'd see what you guys though. Thanks in advance.

I did a lot of reading on this subject and picked up the powder hounds from echo at the show and they came with 8in carbides and hoops and all hardware for 480 including taxes, overall from my reads the 7inch is the best all around for riding areas like Kakwa where there's a lot of trail in and out but I went 8's anyway, planning on a bunch of trips to Vale, Hunters, and Revy

Echo told me the ones I wanted they couldn't get and I'd have to order them direct. That's a good deal you got there. I ride kakwa but also tumbler and pine pass areas. Gonna go with 7's due to shortage of space up on the deck.

you'll find a lot of crap on the keel of the slydog not being deep enough but I think this may have been with the older ones, I got to check out simmons slp and slydogs at the show and mine seemed beeper by a lot and I'm a redneck so camo print was hard to turn down, also heard of the dlp powder pros needing a modification cut to the back of the ski to make them sidehill better? you will get a bunch of feedback on here and probably a ton of brand bashing, I've only ever rpde stock and simmons and the simmons were pretty sweet but I liked the idea of additional flotation and the price was cheaper by a long shot. If you order direct you can custom order color pattern etc, echo was great to deal with

Haha ya I was looking for the orange white and black camo but couldn't find them. I've been trying to find info like that on them but everything I find is brand bashing so hopefully I get some actual helpful insite this way. Thanks for your input.

I ride Kakwa all the time, rode blue river last year and Revy on may long weekend. On the hero snow I found my sled hard to handle as I still had my limit straps let out all the way so side hilling was a real challenge. On the turbo the skis don't touch alot but down the trail in and out I found they dart less than stock.

Both the SLP's and the Sly Dogs are really good skis and have similar characteristics IMO. They both float well and are a big improvement over stock. One of the mods you can do with the SLP's is cut the back of the ski, this was a mod that allowed the back of the ski to cut in better, helping "cut in" for countersteering when sidehilling. Haven't found that I need to do it on mine, sled seems to sidehill just fine. A couple years ago I went looking for new skis, having the exact same debate as you. The only reason I chose the SLP's was because the initial ski tip angle seemed higher on the SLP's at the time. I think the newer Sly Dogs have a little more angle (from pics I have seen anyway) so I don't think you can go wrong with either style really. Both the SLP's and the Sly Dogs are very darty on the trail, so be aware of that, you can reduce some of the steering pressure by loosening the limiter strap.

Hey Modman looking for skis for my m1000, would you recommend 7inch or 8 inch I am thinking sly dog, 95% riding done in Fernie and not on the trail long, mostly boondocking etc. Your comment states the slp and dogs are darty on the trail, I thought these would be better than stock? Thanks
