Once again, as stated with a post with Polarice, people's description of snow should be clarified.

If you are looking for feet of light fluffy fresh you won't find it in 99% of the places. They had 12" of so snow on a firm base two weeks ago, followed up with another small shot the week after. Snow will be decent, but not GREAT! If you can still find untracked spots you'll maybe see 12-25 inches in secluded spots. Because the wind was moderate when they got the first 12", it is highly variable. Most snow ending up in the trees, or along cuts of trees or valley/river bottoms.

To top it off, visibilty has been decent to good so expect to hunt the untracked stuff.

Not trying to be a downer, but realistic reports don't mislead people. Overall snow for Fernie is low. Down low there is very little. Areas that are known to have landmines other years are filled with them this year. Play safe.

If you want smooth trails to get to the snow, go to Fernie and stage from Coal Creek. It is better than Morrissey and waaaaaaaay better than anything from the Alberta/Corbin side. We will be grooming Friday night once again.

Shibby is right, valley snow is non-existent! It has been all year! I said that in November and i'm still saying that! There is not the snow of other years but it is what it is. The Coal Summit, the trees around the Wrangler's cabin, the Notch, Harvey, and others are decent at the higher elevations.

Ya I hear ya, snow is way down. We were there a few weeks ago and I was talking to a friend that lives near Castle and they said snow was going going almost gone. So I was just glad to hear we could still ride it

If you are looking for a foot or two of fresh powder, it isn't going to happen. We mainly rode the Rolling Hills and we kept on finding untracked areas. For us the snow amount was perfect as we only have 136"tracks. We could go anywhere we wanted. We were able to play around in the trees without any problems, and didn't have to ride someone else's tracks. So if you want to get out and burn a tank or two of fuel, you will enjoy it. As soon as I can get the pics of the camera I will post some. I have had my sled for 6 years now and this was the best week-end out yet.:d

We were out in the pass all last week. Staging from Satoris road was the worse I have ever seen it. Things sure look different with the lack of snow. Corbin was a bit better as was Atlas but still very low. These places though made Fernie look like a winter wonderland!! Despite the fact that it is a low snow year all around. I am shaking my booty though for a big dump in March!
