Question to the SAR types...
With no clues as to where he was intending to ride, where the hell do you start searching?
There must be a procedure but I have no idea as to what it may be?!

Wow. Sure hope this guy is found ok. And I'll echo turts' point. Where would a guy start looking?

Good on you guys that take solo riders into your group, or can step out there and ask to ride with a group! Not everyone has a group to ride with all the time! And good on you guys for helping folks out like that. I don't mountain ride anymore but when I did we constantly stopped to make sure everyone was ok. Things happen fast out there.

Why do people ride alone at all, just Friggin dumb

So many different things can happen, including what happened to a guy in our group last weekend, got bucked off, laying beside his sled and ankle -boot stuck beside and under side of tunnel

He tryed for 10 min to reach, free his leg ect and could not

One other guy had sled trouble, I went to find him to tell him and found him in this state, and took digging out his leg alot to free it before we got it out

I sure hope and pray they find this guy and he's OK for his sake and his family's! Regardless of the poor decision made to ride alone there are a lot of people close to him worried sick and fearing the worst. HUGE kudos to the S&R folks risking their well-being to find him. To all those who feel they are experienced enough and skilled enough to ride alone, if not for yourself at least for loved one's sake please reconsider. In the case of a severe injury you may not have time to be rescued. A family friend's son fell intó a tree well and got impaled by a broken branch. Unfortunately it was too late by the time his friends found him. There are enough variables in this sport to deal that are completely out of our control and $hit happens! The least we can do is stick together and try our best to make good informed decisions.... I know I am not always the best at this but experience has taught me it sure is worth it to try!

My daughter is in revy sledding right now with her boyfriend and some bros.... Said there are two more guys in over at frisbee ridge that dropped over the ridge, and kept dropping down... They're spending the nite, apparently. She also said they met a group that sledged with this guy for a little bit, and then he took off on his own. He was wearing bright green, with green leaf pattern? On a '14 pro... He's from drayton valley. Locals at the cabin were telling everyone to take it easy, cuz of the easy avalanches happening everywhere.... Good on the locals for that. Tons of snow and very poor visibility. The big group figured the guy dropped into one of the big bowls and could get out and kept dropping down lower... They said he had bare avy essentials and that was it. Hopefully they find him tomorrow ...

Revy SAR has closed Boulder and Frisby tomorrow to search for the missing snowmobiler, please respect this folks. If it was you or your loved one out there you would not want efforts to be hampered

Well I certainly hope there is a good ending to this situation, and I wont comment on going riding alone as this has already been done, other than to mention that when riding with a group and one person is missing and the group is waiting, how often do you hear' Ill go look for him"and off one rider goes. This, in my experience is also an irresponsible act. Now you have 2 riders riding alone. Always send at least 2 riders to look for a missing group member. 2 way radios are an invaluble tool to have also.

The two guys on Frisby were brought back to their buddies at the cabin last night, they were stuck but did lots of things right.
boulder and Frisby will be closed because the helicopter will fly with two devices, one that can pick up beacons and the Recco unit, it can detect most metals and we don't want a ton of guys up there to interfere with the search. Was a long day, one group from S&R started on Boulder at 11am and then we met them on Frisby for the mission, and after all said we got home at 9 pm.

This is a example of where people that are unfamiliar with an area, to hire a guide or find a local to guide them, alone or group .... Also a guide or local will no the conditions better

I have marked all the markers ect on Frisby on my gps, because of one soaked in ride that we just about spent the nite, got back to the cabin late

Now I can follow it and group can follow me to get out

every body talks about the importance of avy training and I agree, but I think basic survival skills are just as important for those who use the backcountry. I hope the guy is okay

Yes avy training don't help when ur in a survival situation, and not in a avy

This is exactly why I have began to pack extra food, clothing, firestarting supplies in tunnel bag and backpack. Have to be prepared for the worst when heading into the backcountry, good day can go south in a second with one bad decision. Hope this guy was prepared and he is found safe.
