News states that the Coroners report discovers that his Avalanche bag malfunctioned.

Not sure of the brand model, but one guy in this video said that his "ABS" pack malfunctioned...

My sincerest sorrow to all family and friends. Didn't know the fellow, but he sounds like a stand up guy who tried to play by all the rules.

RIP AJ. The crazy part of this whole thing is the spot it had happened. It was not a spot you would be worried about sliding. I was there with him and the other guys involved the previous weekend and guys where playing in the cut block with no issues. It just shows that you can never take any terrain for granted. Even if you don't think it could slide, it possibly can. Play safe out there guys.

Sorry for your loss. I seen a picture of the spot where a guy lost his life in an avalanche in Utah last week, and same thing looked really safe treed area. We will have to expect the unexpected!
