hello boys and girls, girls and boys! ive got a quick complaint about the edmonton sled show hours. shuttin the show down that early sucks! i work weekdays, weekends whatever the world throws at me! it always seems im busy friday, saturday TILL five, and working on sunday again. i understand that some travel from far and its nice to see the city or whatever else is going on....but it is the sled show weekend!! when it was open later on saturday i always made it AND always spent some dough, but the shorter hours on A SATURDAY are almost makin me say sorry, im not gonna make it. i dont mean to whine but i look foward to it each year and always intend to buy at least a couple dvds and a callendar minimum, so once again the hours suck! last year i was slammed with work and plans changed at noon so i was able to make it for awhile late sunday afternoon from three till almost close and JUST ME spent almost a thousand dollars. i know thats not alot but a little bit here and there makes a difference to all vendors! ok ive ranted long enough im gettin off my soapbox!!! i hope not to offend but give my two cent insight!!

yup, that is why they shut it down earlier...... Some exhibitors have complained in the past, that they are from out of town, and it was just another expense for them to come in on a regular weekend to attend the asa awards banquet, so it was scheduled for the saturday nite after the show......... Like summiteer said, it was quite well attended, with lots of the major vendors and exhibitors in attendance. I know it doesn't help you(boydo) in the long run, but it has helped out lots of out of town guests.

I am sure there will be more people against this idea than there are those who like the idea, but I wanted to say, most shows, be it outdoor, rv, sled and other such shows in Calgary usually suck. We pay for parking unless you want to walk 5 blocks (not sure if Edmonton does) and sometimes ridiculous fees to get into the show and then in turn feel as though it wasn't worth it. Some people may feel they get their moneys worth everytime.

One of the better shows I have been to a few times is the Offroad show in RedDeer. Sure its a drive from Calgary or Edmonton but it gets a lot of attention and great vendors. Maybe this was even done in the past, and maybe it won't work, but I think a central show in RedDeer where everyone from Edmonton and Calgary go would be a better show overall. I can imagine there is more logistics involved for vendors transporting goods, and there are people who come from way up north, but there are those same people who would be coming from the south. They have the space to have a snocross track set up (I see them doing it on dirt sometimes, maybe some manmade snow) lots of indoor space, and so on. One large 3 day show on maybe a longweekend in November might do well? Or not.

I am not saying this is the perfect idea, or even a good idea. But maybe its time for a change so when you go to a show you can say WOW, that was a sled show.

I second this motion, make it so...

Just do giant alberta show... although i did make it to the Edmonton show and probably will go to the calgary one (unless there is snow!!!!), a big show with the snow cross and other live demos would be so sweet... mabey even a shoot out or something to that effect... make it an event no one wants to miss, the first weekend in Nov would be perfect or even the last one in oct.. make it a destination show for all in the west... the perfect kick off to the sledding season...

I must admit I did really like the edmonton show, it was cool to meet and see alot of the crazies who make the videos... My hat goes off to these people, they keep us entertained when there is no snow... they keep is pumped for sledding when its 30 degrees out... thanks to all of you, and keep those vids coming... :):):):

Some of us out west like riding, oh yeah there's the new rental now the 827 for you Boydo. I agree with you about the show hours, it seems since they have started to have it at the Agricom all that has happened is prices go up for the exhibitors and tickets and parking keeps getting jacked up. Maybe it's time to look elsewhere to have it.

Some other reason show closed early on Sat is attendance. In the past the show has stayed open later on Sat night. Vendors had comments on Long hours, number of lookers and being tired from 2 days of being in their booths and wanted to get out while in the BIG city. Oiler games concerts put pressure on attendance and parking so decided to close early on Sat night for vendors, volunteers rest and Awards banquet just filled the hole by early closing. Some people want to go out on Sat night not to a display Show. Friday night open late is enough for most vendors and lookers

i have found in the last 2 years i have not heard it promoted on the radio at all, waaaay back then i didnt have computer access all the time so the good ol radio told me the details and days it was on. im surprised at the lack of people posting thier frustration on the early saturday close like myself! i understand the desire to go out while in the big city but at the same time why are you there? to promote your business, gain more clients, make more money, more exposure.....etc,etc..it only comes once a year in edmonton, myself i would want the most time available to me!! jmo i could be wrong!!
