Depends on what you consider capable. I have a 2011 F150 heavy duty and I think it's more than capable. It has a 2700lb payload and with two sleds on it it handled an emergency maneuver with ease last winter. Right at late dusk when both headlights and daylight suck, I was heading northbound to Revy, just past Radium. All of a sudden an adult Elk came running down the cutbank towards my lane...I went into full emergency braking on a damp surface...I was expecting the Elk to carry on across the road and I was going to move to the right behind it. Well it stopped full on in my lane and my only option was to get off the brakes and go into the oncoming lane as there was no oncoming traffic. This was a major emergency lane change and I'm guessing my mirror missed the Elk's nose by inches. The truck handled the maneuver so well I was actually shocked and totally impressed.

All you haters can hate...but I'm a believer.

Cheers.

Exactly! I had the same thing happen to me approaching Dunster on ice, my truck handled the maneuver had lots of traction to do the maneuver with two sleds on the deck, which had a 2300 lb payload at the time if I remember right.
The deer ran into the side door of my 07 3500 didn't even put a scratch in it.

Big payload rating just means that the truck is a lot lighter but doesn't mean it's capable of doing the same job as a heavier truck with a lesser payload rating.

Lmao! And according to fords specs the f150 can handle a larger payload than my 1 ton cummins when properly equipped.

Put 3400 lbs in the bed of both trucks and lets see what truck is more capable.

Not sure what year "1 ton" you have but according to fords web site max payload on 4x2 regular cab is 2857, max on a crew 4x4 is 1818. My 2016 cummins 3500 door sticker is 3710. The Titan HD is a glorified half ton but a really nice tuck vs the domestic garbage.

Your door sticker has a payload rating?

If your planning on doing it anyways why ask the forum if it is ok? Legally I don't know and not really sure safety wise probably not the best idea but yes these new trucks a unreal. If it makes you feel warm and fuzzy go ahead.

Why doesn't every manufacturer have this info? Actual weights of options/accessories

That's the thing,
The payload chart for my truck shows 2910lbs payload for a 3500 short box crew cab 4x4, but doesn't mention the trim. The door sticker says 2721.

So with the Ford does all those options have to be subtracted from the advertised payload rating on the chart??

I haven't looked at it that close. I am sitting at work getting overtime to play on my phone and irritate the internet.

Reading into PDF's just seems like so much work at this point lol.

I thought it was a calculation based on the base numbers. You add a radio the you add 1 pound. You change the wheels it takes away 5 pounds from the front but adds 7 overall.

Just picking arbitrary numbers and options.

Do half tons have payload on their sticker or just axle weights and GVW?
