lol. This isn't a fight at all, I just want some clarification on this.

Maxwell is calling me "cheap" and "clueless" because I am shopping around for parts to find a good deal. Is he just calling me cheap and clueless? Or everyone that shops around? And why? What's the reasoning?

Fairly certain I have the right to order from who I want. In fact, I don't know a single person that doesn't shop around when buying parts and who doesn't go to the person, place or company that gives them the best deal and that they have a good working relationship with.

I will buy more expensive parts from time to time from a company or person I like and get along with, but when it comes to saving hundreds of dollars, it's kind of a no brainer to me. Maxwell, if you have extra disposable income to pay that hundreds more, good on ya, but why knock a person that doesn't or doesn't want to?

I hope your response blows my mind, because you so far have no valid argument...

first off i have nothing against rowdy. seems like a nice person. when she first signed on here the impression that we got was that she had been given the run around with her sled. got screwed on her sled purchase etcetc. so us being the nice people at snowandmud we helped her out as much as possible. because we hate to see when people trying to get into the great sport of snowmobiling get jerked around. some of us sent parts, gave our advice, went to help, etc. when she was looking for a NEW shortblock for her sled i thought i might be able to help out by sending her to the parts manager at MY local dealer. i didnt think he would help her out as much as he did but she basically got a new engine for the same price as it would cost you to get one from the states. pretty sure they even swapped the stator for free. ( no big deal im sure the mechanics were just killing time that day anyways ). now obviously rowdy lives in calgary and i deffinetly dont expect her to buy everything from this dealer from now on. just doesnt make sense. but this kind of you scratch my back ill scratch yours falls into place for all canadian brp dealers or whathaveyou. so now you have gone and taken the cake and eaten it too. but WAIT. you went one step further. you called your local BRP dealer and asked the nice lady at the parts desk to look up a bazillion part#s for you.. ( once again no big deal im sure that shes such a cool chick she works for free! and didnt lose any sales while wasting her time on the phone with you...i bet no PAYING customers were calling looking for parts). so now youve got all the magic part#s you needed and made a 5 minute phone call to a dealer in the states. wow you are so smart! none of us have ever thought of that...were just not dinks. calling your dealer and asking for a bolt size and ordering it from somewhere else is a bit different. we should just call you take take take rowdy. dont worry. i wont be hooking you up with any deals from now on. and if you dont think the higher powers at some of the big dealers arent reading this thread you are WRONG. someone helps you out and you essentially go backstab them. this isnt about the 500$. obviously thats alot of money. but you would have saved it elsewhere by not doing this. dont worry i wont be sending any glowing reccomendations for parts discounts your way. now youve gone and realized you dont even need the friggn braces! talk about burning some bridges batman! this isnt even a stab at rowdy. i feel strongly against this type of action.. obviously i order tons of stuff from the states aswell. i HAVE TO. alot of aftermarket is not available in canada. but i can trust on my local dealer for the right factory part in less than a week for a fair price. sure its not the states price but what do i care. they help me and i help them. essentially all you are doing is helping yourself. if that girl at bow cycle sees this thread im sure she also wouldnt be all that impressed. mind you i dont know the background she could be your best friend and really doesnt give a crap, her paycheck still comes at the end of the month. just a smaller year end bonus because she sold 1000$ less in parts.

BUT NOT TO WORRY ROWDY. when your off the the mountains on a sled trip and you need that last minute part, or a bottle of oil your local dealer will still be there...but you wont get a discount i can guarantee that.

they will be making money selling windshield grommets 5 at a time because they are only 10cents different in the states!

did any of you ever consider that being a little more loyal to your local dealer might actually lead to a better price in the future?

of course not.

now run along and go complain about how all the prices in canada are way to high...as your driving down to pick up your discounted crap from the states..because you are not helping the situation AT ALL.

maybe if you would have asked me or that parts manager who i sent you too he probly would have given you a decent deal! maybe not a 500$ savings but at least something to keep your faith in canada.

also, you said i claim to know everything about skidoo. you are in fact wrong. as far as your concerned i am one part# short of braindead when it comes to how to build a skidoo correctly. so not to worry you wont have to read my posts in your cry for help threads ANYMORE!

overr and OUT.

ps. what are you having for breakfast everyone wants to know?

im going to get flamed for this.. BUT I DONT CARE. see you all on the snow!

OK, Maxwell... I think you should do the right thing and remove that lengthy post.

I can understand that you are upset about it, and rightfully so, but an open forum is not the place to vent. If you have a problem with something someone has done, tell them, and give them a chance to learn from it, but don't throw it out there for all to see.

Peace.

you apparently don't care, although your 1/2 page long post suggests otherwise, apparently she does, so what's your non-careing point? Not defending Rowdy since I know she can handle herself, but you gotta get off the BRP soapbox dude - Armand Bombardier did not create the universe and all living things, there is a lot you neglect to see on this site. BRP has a lot of issues and does not make an invincible product, so what if someone wants to beef up their sled because BRP designed the nun to be the weakest link so that the majority of people who hit a tree would have to take it back to the dealership and have a complete sled teardown to replace a $200 part that benefits the dealer with huge labour hours? whoops, did I say that out loud....? haha

Not everyone has friends that work at the dealership and get a "parts deal", so what if she shops around? You are seriously trying to tell us that you have paid full market price for absolutely everything you ever bought? Why didn't you have Mots or Specialty build your 880, instead of Bikeman? Same product, two are Canadian though, and local to you. Where will Bikeman be when you need pistons? They will be in sitting in Canadian Customs when Mots has them in stock and can get you back up and running next day. Don't you like to support the local Canadian little guy? :p

i deal with motts for tons of stuff? as a matter of a fact he is building me an engine right now? and i just picked up my modified bottom end from him. that 880 is also NOT mine. the only sled i own is stock. except decals have been removed.

specialty sleds? they know me by my first name in there!

as for bikeman. i do all my purchasing through cory miku in vancouver...canadian.

this has nothing to do with brp.

it has to do with me pulling strings to help a person out and in return.. well nothing besides making me look bad. if i rode polaris this would be the same conversation

when have i ever said brp makes an invincible product? i spend tens of thousands on parts. what does that say? want to see my yearly invoice?

i ride brp because i like the chassis and in comparison to the rest i prefer them. aswell as the service i get from the dealer.

they are all junk. we all know that. the way me and most of us ride these machines its nearly impossible not to break something

there ya go....... :D

LOL I don't think that her intention was to make you look bad in any way dude, I think you're taking this personal for some reason, all I see is that she is trying to save some $$$, some people only have limited means (financials). I have loaned her lots of tools etc, one sledder trying to help another sledder out, that's whats its all about, I wasn't trying to take money out of the dealerships mouth, I was just trying to save her a couple bucks and help her take her stuff apart so that she knows how it works. Same reason I did this thread last year - https://www.snowandmud.com/forum/f14/low-budget-back-up-sled-build-17530.html Just trying to show people that this sport can be economical, we'd all love to shop local etc, but unfortunately sometimes finances can be limiting and so you gotta make do with what you got in order to keep your junk running.

Believe me, I ride the oldest sleds in my group by a long shot. I'm really lucky to be able to ride with guys that put up with my on trail repairs, wait for me on the trail if its super rough because I don't have the best suspension to pound through 4 ft chop, and help me out when they can to build my sleds so that I can make it to the bottom of the hill, and not hold them back too much. I have been wanting to buy a new sled for 3 yrs, but starting a family took priority and so when my wife took mat leave, my hobby took the punishment. Not much I can do but try and keep my sleds running for another year and hope that 2012 is my year.

Nothing personal to you from me - I think you've got a good character, just might have misunderstood Rowdy's post.

I agree with Maxwell. I had to put a new frame into my quad over the winter and I bought quite a few parts from them. Because of my repeated business they give me a discount on everything I purchase from the store. I now get discounted on all parts and accessories without even asking and they cut me a good deal on my snowcheck too.
