Folks what we just witnessed here is an example (a good example) of the new global economy. The way we shop, purchase whatever has changed drastically from days gone by (thanks to the net). Consumer trends are changing, no longer are we tied to doing our purchasing in our neighbourhod, town, city, province, country, etc, the world is now our market place and the value of our dollar will dictate how much we do our global shopping. And come on folks how many of us on this forum have scooted done to Montana, Idaho or Washgington to pick up a good deal on a sled or covered trailer?? Welcome to the new realities of todays economy.
The fact that we have so much more choice is an even better reason to spend locally.
Spending money in your community means more of that money will continue to circulate and keep everyone in business. The smaller companies may charge a little more, but generaly have higher production costs, which means more of their dollars are spent within the community as well. Money is the life blood of any economy, once it leaks out, it's hard to get back.
I'm talking about "community" in the global sense, our friends and fellow sledders. The bigger picture to me is keeping the dollars flowing within our sport, and keeping the good guys in business.
Powder Pilot you are correct and don't get me wrong I do support the local dealer (oh boy do I support them; if my wife new the amount of money that I have dropped in their hands she would kill me) and the reason I support them is good service and good knowledge support and I agree with you on the point about keeping your dollars in your local community (especially when you live in a smaller community). But every know and then a fantastic deal or product comes along that you find on the net and sometimes it is pretty hard to not go for it.
i have tried to support the local dealer.. but i havent bought a 16000 dollar sled there so they could care less about me..lol
im the same as rowdy. i search online and look around for days sometime to find deals.
i could care less where i get parts from. if i can save money i am happy.
more savings means more spending haha...
I definitely dont find it wrong at all for anyone to " save a few bucks " in the states. Especially when the majority of us buy our sleds, oil, fuel, pickups, hotel rooms, belts, etc etc, to enjoy our passion of snowmobiling. That alone seems to be helping out communities quite a bit in my opinion. Good for u Rowdy if u saved yourself a few hundred bucks i am sure you have spent Way more in your sledding carreer locally. I personally would buy stuff south a little bit too if i honestly knew where to order from. I would love to know where u get ur plugs from though, i just bought two for $15500 and they threw in a sled
