the only way too do a 3" properly is with a drop and roll $$$ and 8 tooth avids. 7 tooth you will get rubbing and the new 3" track sucks. Too bad they still dont make the old one for the 163 guys. For you guys jumping on the 3" track bandwagon they suck in anything but deep powder, in the spring on the hardpack those big paddles bend over and your done(going to be even worse for the guys with the new 3" track),the 2.5" guys will be doing a lot better.

Have you actually rode with a 3"? By your statement it sure sounds like your just going off what a few people say not with actual experience.

yup have a 174x3" great track does awesome when its deep tractors all day, get it in marginal snow and the 2.5 does better. Sorry if it offends you guys that are running out spending money on these tracks and cant give it an honest review. I dont mind spending money on something (a lot of money) and saying it isnt what its all cracked up too be. When this track wears out and it will, a 2.5 will be on it next go around or on my next sled. Whichever comes first.

Well I have the old good style 3 and I could sell it in a second for what I paid and put er back to stock so your thesis of money spent affecting my opinion doesn't hold water to me. Needless to say the 3 isn't coming off any time soon

I have been running a 3" 174 for 4 seasons on my m1000 so it is only a 15 wide and I have not found a problem with the lugs bending at all in spring conditions, in fact it is the opposite problem, I find that it pushes the front end around hard because of the traction. I have not experienced any loss of traction in any condition other than pure ice going up the trails. This track kills any 2.5 in almost every condition except on a hard pack lake when you have a drag race, it will pull harder out of the hole but loose out on top end and they hum pretty good after 70 mph. I just broke a lug off last trip and my buddy has lost 4 now and we are wondering if it is cuz they are so stiff or if it is cuz we cut the sides off to fit in our sleds. We also have a new 2013 proclimb with a new 174 and it has been modded to about 175 hp and it is killing our M1000s so that track is not bending over in my opinion. I agree the 2.5 is a good track and it has its place but I will suffer the two times a year that my 3" pushes me around, it is an awesome track. I have no cooling issues and only use my scratchers once in awhile when the trail is rock hard, probably less than 5 times a year, if they had a 184 from camoplast I would be first in line!

good dont take it off I could careless mines not coming off till its worn out either. I was merely stating an opposing view to your 3" rocks and is the only track too have they have there downside as in a mud tire over an all terrain tire.

Its all in set up too though. One guy complains of a problem here other guys have no problem. Why? cause 1 guy spent more time setting his up maybe. How many times have you seen the same sled side by side with another one same mods same everything and 1 of them always wins. Every sled is different and different riders. Some guys have problems with the 3" others do not. Take it as it is, all personal opinions and experiences.
