Simple Easy Clutch Upgrade

I've got a '18 G4 175 which I really like, however wanted to see if I could improve the backshift and get more power to the ground. My 175 has been good on belts so far (knock on wood!) but since it was due for servicing thought I would take the opportunity to make a simple clutch change... hopefully upgrade. First off, I am NOT a clutch expert by any means and after getting input from a few friends decided on just swapping the stock secondary spring for the stiffer Green secondary spring. Wow! What an improvement for the kind of riding I mostly do which is tighter trees, beating up challenging creeks, etc... The backshift is instant and it pulls real hard from the bottom to the top. I did have to adjust clickers down from #3 to #2 to ensure rpm maxed out at 8000 vs bouncing up to about 8200. Overall I'm happy so far after the first weekend so wanted to share.

I stopped at a dealer today and was told brp does not sell a green green secondary spring so not sure ????

Unfortunatly, most parts guys at the dealers no longer have the knowledge (or care to learn) of the vehicles that they are looking up. If you’re looking for a part that’s not specific to your sled/utv then they can’t find it. Walking into a local BRP dealer a few months ago for a secondary spring for my XP and asked if he had any other spring options for me. He had a bit of a deer in the headlights look on his face. I was looking for a stiffer spring and he had no clue how to find a different spring unless I gave him a part number. Said I’d just take the stock purple/purple spring. He’s like what sled is this for again???? Kinda reminded me of a parts guy at a Canadian tire, ‘is that an automatic or standard?’ while looking up a tail light bulb. Hahaha. I understand that there is a ton of parts for a ton of toys, but if all you sell is BRP parts or AC parts come on, I’m sure they’d be able to retain some knowledge along the way. (I spent 3 years as a parts guy at an auto parts store when I was younger and if you weren’t able to retain some knowledge then you didn’t last long at the store) Sorry, just venting as I know how frustrating it can be when you’re looking for a part and the guy on the other side of the counter can’t help you cause he doesn’t have the correct information and/or misinformation.

Well technically he is right, it’s actually just a Green sec spring.
But he should of know what you wanted.

I didn’t have a temperature gun but by feel they seemed cooler....

Thanx guys.... I stood a MMS counter for 1/2 hour and left empty handed they said stock it has a green white spring in my 18 G4165 and the next and only heavier spring was a pink white so I'm still on the fence other than just using that part number posted above.....

they only show certain springs for certain years in the parts book doesnt mean the other part numbers wont work for your 850

OEM BRP springs described as two color are primary springs. Secondary OEM springs are single color. The 172 number is correct for a Green

SPI springs are single color

Dalton is the only one I can recall that uses multicolor descriptions for sec springs

Fixed it... its the Green secondary spring. Part # is in the picture posted.

Thats a primary spring color they are telling you, not a secondary spring color. The secondary had not changed in the last 10 years.

What color primary spring takes out the wobble to maintain the primary and secondary center to center and gets rid of the heat building scrubbing?

Since we are fixing let's really address the issue.

Motor mounting can be next.

Definitely the secondary spring.... on a '18 Doo 850

Read, plus The secondary spring parts numbers have been given to you already, on numerous occasions, turboetec.
