Rolled a cool mileage the other day.
Curious what took you to a Yamaha over what seems the norm.. bmw or Ktm?My adventures don't end because the snow melted, already racked up nearly 2500km with 450km from yesterday and this is just the beginning of 2021...LOL

I had a BMW GS for quite a few years, great bike but after a couple years of off tarmac use it became problematic. The last couple years i had it, it spent a lot of shop time on electronic diagnosing issues.Curious what took you to a Yamaha over what seems the norm.. bmw or Ktm?
This is my ride 2006 Honda GL1800
I got this 2012 Harley dyna wide glide fxdwg last weekend. Have it in for tires and brakes then get back soon. Lots to to to get ready

I did look at getting another GS but it just wasn't a good fit for the extra cost, i can buy a lot of gear and fuel for trips too what it takes to outfit a GS and you better buy a road side insurance and yes BMW has that option for their GS line at a push of a button on the bike. LOL
I also looked at KTM, Super Adventure 1290, similarly to the GS, over priced and too much gadgetry, lack of good dealership support in remote areas and they too are continuously going through reliability issues from engine to electronics.
Yamaha support is everywhere world wide, parts are easy access no matter your location. The bike in general is easy to work on if need be.
Plus Yamaha reputation.
V-strom is also a good bike,Thanks for the info, I am looking at adv bikes as sold my Harley have a couple buddies into adv, one has a ktm1290 “best bike you can own” other has a r1250gs “best bike you can own” I was leaning to an 1100 Africa twin DCT, hadn’t looked at the Yamaha, have now reviews sound pretty good.
You can't go wrong with the Africa Twin, but my personal choice would be the standard non automatic version. Thanks for the info, I am looking at adv bikes as sold my Harley have a couple buddies into adv, one has a ktm1290 “best bike you can own” other has a r1250gs “best bike you can own” I was leaning to an 1100 Africa twin DCT, hadn’t looked at the Yamaha, have now reviews sound pretty good.
My bike I bought last year. 2019 glide cvo. Last winter I did RT pro suspension. Laser jammer and radar built in. FX audio spruce grove ripped out the boom audio and installed a crazy set up. Stock motor for now.
