Should I do this with a tarp?

Tarping is a great idea but if you are concerned with moisture put a few containers of baking soda inside the trailer.it will absorb any accumulative moisture..

I would use it to cover your lime green cat so we don't have to look at.

Good ideas above, but I wouldn't let the tie down ropes & loose edges of the the tarp hang close to the ground. That'd be like putting a welcome mat out for the critters.
