Just wondering if anyone has made the switch to Shaw mobile and what the coverage is like. They have some great rates but I have a couple concerns.

1. Since I have a number now from an area that Shaw does not have a tower I can’t migrate it over. I would have to get a new number, most likely from Lethbridge, which is a royal pain changing everything over, not impossible but still a pain.

2. I’m told you would run on Shaw towers when in major centres but that they have agreements with Telus, Rogers and Bell when Shaw is not available but no guarantee that I wouldn’t drop calls or even have service on the other 3 since I wouldn’t be a priority when on those towers.

Any info would be helpful...thanks all!

Brother in law just got Shaw.

Seems ok. He did have service when Telus didn’t. I think it grabbed a bell tower.

We just got a new deal with Rogers. Checked out Shaw but the places we go there was no guarantee of service. That doesn’t work as my wife has pretty serious medical issues. The rates weren’t that great either.
I was a TELUS customer for 17 years and they wouldn’t budge one bit on their plan.
Rogers had the best deal. Cheapest monthly rates, a $200 bill credit for each phone for switching, $50 referral fee for us and my daughter and a free Huawei tablet.

Shaw is in the stone age, and Telus is a joke to deal with. Rogers or Bell is the best bet IMO. Been with Rogers over 15 years and they've gotten better recently, getting crazy good deal now.

Just switched from bell to Rogers. Bell had better LTE coverage for sure, but the Rogers business plans were so good nobody could touch them. 3 lines, 40gb, and a free tablet for 112/month on bring your own device.

Is the 3G or whatever it is the same coverage in Rual areas for bell and rogers?

That is good. I got 2 lines 35GB shared unlimited, both on contract for $180/month.

Thanks for the information. I was comparing the coverage maps, and seems to about the same. That LTE thing seems to be a pain for me, it will hang on to a low LTE signal instead of switching to a better 3G signal, maybe it’s just my device though.
