Well There are some of us one here that are almost done high school.I have 1 year left and don't know what I want to do when I'm done.
Anyone els know what they are going to do? any cool jobs out there?

One of my bigger regrets is not joining the army when i was 18 for a couple years.

Can have an amazing pension by 50!

I'm on my last week of High school. I want to get into anything trades. Gas line pipefitter seems good, I want to give it a try after exams!

I would say take a year and enjoy life if you can afford and do it, TRAVEL!!! after that get some post secondary stat!! I always laughed at everyone that told me to actually try in colledge and never did, just partied(I think I'm the reason pinky's closed lol). But seriously, get into a colledge or university and take something that you know you'll enjoy later in life. Oilfield is a good route but be ready to ride the waves.

If I could go back and do it all over again I would go into pharma sciences and become some along the side of pharma sales. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I know people that do that and the money they make for what they have to do is actually criminal!

I would vote along the lines of take time off and travel and figure out what you want to do in life.

Dont rush into making a career decision after high school. Like Shoppingcart111 said take a year (or two off) and travel and give it some serious thought. When I initially finished school I wanted to become a heavy duty mechanic and actually got my ticket. Fortunately/unfortunately I got sick with carbon monoxide poisoning so I needed to do a career change. Best thing that could have happened to me as I went back to school and got my degree in business and international trade. Never thought academics was my forte but after a few years of maturing I had a completely different view. Good luck!

If you are like the rest of us, get to work or go to post-secondary and forget about dreaming! You can dream after you make some quid.

The best advice I used to give my students (and it depended on whether they were academically inclined or trade oriented) go to school. It didn't really matter whether or not they had "found themselves" but they should go to school.

Now, school is a broad subject. If you're trade oriented, get started in a trade with an apprenticeship. It is only 4 years and you will have the knowledge for the rest of your life. It is one of the greatest stepping stones into the future. If you're academically oriented, get into university with something in Arts or Science as the courses will be transferable to other faculties when you finally make a career choice. If you plan correctly you won't lose credits and if you decide to doo the apprenticeship thing, you'll be able to afford university.

The best advice I got: pay your way! Don't get hung up on the loans and have to work for 10-20 years paying back loans. Put your nose to the grind stone; work, study, and enjoy.

After all that remember CPR......choices, priorities, and responsibilities!

Life will be great but don't screw it up! Use the brains in the head above your shoulders......good luck!

great advice but I have to disagree with you on the dreaming part. Dreaming is what makes us individuals and strive to better ourselves in life. I did a lot of that and I must say it got me places in life that "I never dreamed of before" :d:d

I didn't mean dreaming for the future! There are too many young folks out there that are still "dreaming" and living with their parents because they can't or won't bite the bullet.

Get on with life. Life is being self-sufficient. "Dreaming" is for high school. Real life is reality. Get on with it!

Live the dream, but work, work, work or go to school, school, school.....and most of all support yourself!!

when you work for the ski hill you can! they will let you use your own sled if it has stock exhaust (you could hear our stingers in town at night) and Golden is an hour away!

Go to school and be prepared for your most exciting class to be "Self 101". This is the time to learn your life lessons and start knowing your dreams. Of course you dont know what you want to be right now- but you wont know until you try some stuff. Don't be afraid to change directions a few times until you find a good fit. No learning is ever wasted. If you can afford it, go away for college/university and experience something new. (I did my first two years in Quebec and transferred back later) Travel and work in summers if you can and soak up the college experience as much as possible. Maintain a healthy social life but balance it with some actual college effort! Don't quit until you get what you want and don't get sucked in by girls who just want to get married, make babies and fold laundry...

I started out taking a bachelor of Arts, switched to sciences, worked in accounting/admin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a major in biology and minor in psychology. I was largely unemployable without more school. Then I went to NAIT, became a Respiratory Therapist and have a photography business. Lesson: enjoy the journey, but dammit start the journey

Exactly why you shouldn't take time off to "figure out what I want to do". You actually have to do something in order to decide if it is or isn't your thing...

I got 1 year left i hope taht it will be a great/ fast last year.... Hoping on going to college going for some trade of some sort... And Go out and live life at it's fullest... And money i don't need to worry about that, im making lots of that already...
