Re: Bighorn Land Grab

As the "consultation period" is ending in January, the NDP will be in full 'save our asses' mode. With an upcoming election (of which I'm confident they won't win) this will all be a distant memory as those SOB's are kicked out of the Legislature. Just consider this whole study a waste of a few million and move on, because I think and hope, we all have the good sense to elect a more fiscally responsible group.

Wishful thinking??

Re: Bighorn Land Grab

I think your wrong. The NDP is going to push this thru as fast as they can. They are in deep with Y2Y and CPAWS. We are having another meeting in Rocky tomorrow night to protest and we will be discussing hiring a lawyer to help fight this. Anyone who wants to show up be at the Lou Soppit Community Hall at 7 PM Monday the 16.

Re: Bighorn Land Grab

Something like this;

To whom it may concern,

I am contacting you in the hope , you will shine the light on the non democratic way the Alberta environment minister is holding public consultation meetings.
First off meetings were set up that were by invite only and not even close to being equal representation from both sides. The only groups allowed input were proponents of the plan to restrict access to the bighorn area.
Secondly , after much uproar the NDP decided to hold “open to the public” meetings. However the same scenario is playing out. The only groups allowed any airtime are again , the supporters of the NDP plan. Of the total number of people that attended the latest meetings, not one single person from the “nay” side was allowed to speak.
The online surveys that the government has produced , are being ignored , as the majority of people are against the proposal.
I beg of you to use your voice to show how truly disgraceful this government is conducting themselves. If you , or any one you know , values the democratic process you surely will focus your reporting on the upcoming “ public consultation” meetings.
Whether you are for or against the proposal, this is truly a travesty of the democratic process in Alberta. I can provide you with times and locations.
Regards,

It might be worth sending an email to Danielle Smith at QR77.

Heard an advert this morning on KG. Save the BigHorn, sponsored by save the headwater campaign.

That must mean we are gaining ground and they are trying to get more sheeple on there side.

Re: Bighorn Land Grab

Here's the deal:

THE ONLY MEETINGS THAT MATTER ARE THE ONES IN EDMONTON

There needs to be a HUGE presence in Edmonton and a rally at the government buildings if we want to have any chance.

Most of the swing votes are in edmonton. Places like Rocky, Red deer, those have been given up on by the NDP. They know they are going to lose there.

UCP is playing right along to get votes. But the truth is they will never have the sack to reverse it. If you look on Jason Nixon's facebook he answers every other question but if they will fight to reverse it.

So if you acutally give a Sh*t, you better get to edmonton and make some noise.

Re: Bighorn Land Grab

We tried this last year advertised the crap out of it everywhere, the attendance was low. I spoke to many before this and they said why should I waste my time the ndp do what they want and we can protest the heck out of it and they turn a blind eye.

This was out on snowandmud, Facebook, went to all the Edmonton and area dealers.

So if we ever this again we need huge attendance. And big media coverage.

Re: Bighorn Land Grab

its the only way. might as well give up if there isn't a huge showing in edmonton.

The UCP wont have the power or the ability to reverse it.

Re: Bighorn Land Grab

the ucp is playing this just to get votes.

If you look on nixon’s website he answers everything very directly. Except when someone asks if they will reverse it. Then it’s crickets.

Reversing a new park will be very low on the priority list. Huge $$ and the juice won’t be worth the squeeze. Especially once they don’t need your vote any more.

Thinking the answer is just waiting till ucp is in will be the biggest mistake we ever make.

edmonton is Jan 15. Better make a big appearance or it’s all over folks.
