All it takes is a lower start force on the primary spring to lower engagement. Stock is 160lbs. But i dont know what that does with Paul's Helix. Personally i like the stock engagement. I can totally creep around slow. Combine that with a steep ramp start and its butter smooth in the slow deeps.

I think the reason y it drops out is cause the idle is so much lower and drops the belt.

Hey Winter. Just road my xm today.

Pulls good and has good rpm ect.

But jack crap for down hill holding like I have in my xp. Freewheels ways to easy.

What ya got to fix that ??

Tickle the throttle to help it stay engaged....like said, the etec idles so low, if it can't stay engaged it will let go. Also, snow conditions play a big role in engine braking, if the track skids instead of spinning it will disengage regardless of clutching used. It should be significantly more aggressive then stock in this area, but not super aggressive....engine braking is just a biproduct, not something I shoot for.
Also, the engagement tension effects much more than engagement, it changes the rate all the way to full shift.

So did they do some fixing in the clutching on the 14's.

Cause it pulled good , kept 7900 all day on clicker One , deep fine to heavy snow never saged ect like my xp did stock.

Only issue I had was the drop out rolling down hills. Wouldn't stay locked like my xp does.

That's good to know...It should be on clicker 3-4 only....on 1 it is going to by lazy and engine braking will be worse. Add pin weight if needed to stay on 3-4 and it will work MUCH better. Set up sheet should have stated that ? The added pin weight and steeper angle on the ramp being on 3-4 will help it hold onto engagement. Thanks for the feedback.

Still on the break in program I assume? It will get better, if it pulls RPM on clicker 1 now, add .8g or whatever it takes to pull 7900 on a climb on clicker 3-4....then #5 is fine for heavy snow days or up higher. I ride about a 4000ft elevation swing and never have to touch the clickers, it seems to be fairly tolerant of altitude changes. Backshift/RPM recovery will be much stronger on 3-4 also.

Yes still breaking in.

My xp has a d.j kit just diff primary spring. But on the xp I don't need a dual elevation kit cause I won't be riding a.b any more.

What's Ur kit worth winter.

tex, I was thinking you already had our setup....lol. Anyway, my responses still apply to stock clutching as well.

Just installed RS kit on my XM - first thing I noticed was the engine braking - stock really doesnt engage the clutch enough to have engine braking like the RS kit does - didnt have chance to see how it pulls or how rpm holds on climb yet - gotta wait for next trip out !

Just installed a rooster built on my 2012 freeride. The thing flat out rips. Hard out of the hole and great top end. Big difference. Paul is def right about using it on clicker 3-4. I am at 2 near stony plain so it should be just perfect hitting that 3 or 4 in the mountains. Add weights if necessary. The customer service has been awesome as well. I had a few questions about clutch alignment and Paul and Dave always call their customers back same day. Super happy with the kit and will not ever be running stock clutching again.

I have a Rooster Built complete kit for sale that I bought for my 13 XM 800 163
It is a mtn set up 4-7 ft
it is stock sled set and Brand New I just go it 1 week ago

I am going a different way with a big bore set up and clutching comes with
Paid $390 plus freight $30.00 all in $420.00 US

Paul any thing out for the 872 Trygstad yet 2500feet to 4000



We have 2 of the 872's with 163's we are working with. Just need snow to do more testing and get some time on he engines to get through break-in. We will have a setup as soon as we are happy with it.

With the speed of USPS, your wife might be insane by the time it gets there.:beer: They have been taking about 10+ days. I wish there were more choices on shipping but it seems the only one that doesn't add a bunch of charges for shipper and customer.
