2006 700 king quad rings and jug Compression gauge found

Thank you every one, I went and bought a new compression gauge, that has 5 different adapters and it cost $50. I guess the headache begins. I'm pretty sure that the rings are gone and maybe the jug, question is do I put a new piston in at this time; if the rings and jug is bad, and is there a gasket kit that I need to order or anything else. And where is the best deal/place to buy these parts.:beer::beer:

If the rings and jug are bad, you'll probably have to bore the cylinder and put in a new piston and rings and gaskets in. Once you have it apart you'll know. Where to get the parts partly depends on what machine you're working on?

I have been told you can't bore it, because pistons only come in one size. I need to buy new jug and rings and maybe piston

Most machines offer oversized pistons for situations like this, 0.010" to 0.020 are pretty common sized, most dealer's will carry these pistons, or check the wisco web site they have a pretty large listing for power sport machines. to find out how warn your cylinder is you need to measure the taper, rule of thumb for boring is taper x 2 round up to the nearest 0,010. a machine shop can measure the jug for you. most cylinders as long as the piston didn't blow up, or the miles aren't crazy high can usually be honed and re rung. with a stock sized piston

Some cylinders have a special coating on them and can't be bored out. I think you can send the cylinder away to be re coated, not 100% sure though. If it is a regular cylinder you could put a new sleave in it if needed. You need to take it apart to see what the cylinder looks like first.

Sorry guys I thought you could read mines, ha ha. It is a 2006 700 King quad and I was told you can't bore it or get over size rings or pistons, I think it has some kind of coating on the jug. Do I order from the states or what.

Yup last king quad I did was new jug and. Piston no larger stuff available anywhere

You should tear the top end down and inspect the cylinder before ordering a new one. If the plating is damaged I would price out re-plating vs new. If the jug is damaged, the piston likely will be damaged as well.

If your not familiar with bucket and shims you would be wise to invest in a repair manual. The manual will be handy in setting the valve timing as well. The valve train on this engine is more like the high reving sport machines/bikes.
