ring change on a 09 M1000?

just wondering when a person should think about doing a ring change? I have just over 4000k on my 09 and am thinking it may be time. I am going to check the compression tonight , but even if it is good should a person just change them on general principle or keep on running them?

i would change the pistons as well at that milage the 1000's are known to get cracks in the skirts of the pistons

I am just gonna do it for a piece of mind. Ordered up a top end kit today .
