3 words Lenox complete heat. Went threw 3 of them. Warranty was me paying Aries mech $7000 to set up new boiler that would do my domestic water as well. Due to we had removed our original chimney when Reno done so had to go with HE. TOLD THEM TO GET-------! Got a 2 spd furnace he water tank. Simple as I could get

lol yeah moral of the story here is don't buy Lenox. They used to be pretty decent, but now availability sucks, quality has been going down hill and good luck getting parts. Lenox is literally the last option for me. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience and it sounds like the contractor took advantage of you as well. 7K to install a new boiler under warranty is absolute BS, stand behind your product or dont sell it.

I have Geothermal in my house. We have a 1400 sqft bungalow. The wife wanted AC(I couldn't argue) and the NG furnace was 20 years old. Rather than installing a new high efficiency furnace and an AC unit, we opted to install geothermal. The company we used also does water well drilling but they recommended a ground loop, as it was cheaper. We live on a farm so we had the space. At the time the Federal government had there Eco Retrofit grants going so we cashed in a little there. All said and done with the geothermal system installed and paying to have the excavation done, the cost was $17500. I did the final landscape work over the excavation so we saved some there.

The system keeps the house warm in the winter and does a great job of cooling in the summer.

I have an arch rib that i heat with NG as well, so it is hard to compare the costs pre gt/post gt. At the time we were looking in to it, NG price was on a continuous upward climb and electricity was fairly stable. That changed though.

One thing to consider: With a NG furnace, the power required is to run the blower fan. In the event of a power outage, a fairly small generator can be connected and you will still have heat. With GT, you have to run the blower fan and the compressor. This requires a much larger generator and transfer switch both. This allowed me to justify buying a portable welder/generator but that certainly isn't everyone's idea of a need or want.

All this being said, I cant say that I would do it again.
