In a bit of a dilemma. I think I know the answer, but thought I would get some opinions.

I hve a 14 SP that has a year of warranty left. Mileage right now is about 1500. Not a lot on this one. There isn't much that is driving me to upgrade this year, but having a year of warranty left makes me wonder if it's a good time to sell.

What's the better deal - sell the 14 with a year of warranty left or hold onto it for another year, ride it, likely add another 1000 miles to it and try to sell without any warranty left? I'm likely further ahead to ride it another year, but opinions?

Other option is to sell this one with a year of warranty left and buy a left over 15 with a 3 year warranty...

iMHO, either way you will take a bath. Price needs to be low now on the 2014 and lower after another year. One year warranty is a great selling feature. You iron is always in great shape so you should be able to get a decent price even with the market flooded. I think that the way the economy is the used sled market is going to get worse and not better for the immediate future.

Agree, selling used sleds will not be pretty this year. Great for buying sucks for selling.

NOT a good time of year to get rid of your sled... But there is always the guy that doesnt know what he is doing on Kijiji! You never know what will happen! If I was you I would probably WAIT until inventory dwindles on the sp's as mentioned. But it is ALWAYS an advantage trying to sell a sled with ANY warranty left. Gives the customer the option to buy the sled... and take it into a dealership. dealers will go over the whole thing... fix what needs to be fixing... BUMPER TO BUMPER warranty! GREAT selling feature. Put yourself in a buyers shoes.... Looking at 15 sleds on kijiji.... one has warranty.... Which one are you going to go after first? JUST an opinion!

Hey man... I PROMISE you... my sled will always be the "newest" used sled around. New bumpers and doors and stuff all the time..............
Maxwell maintains his stuff really well... He just doesnt care about the appearance until the end of the year!

I think selling with one year warranty is important simply for the fact of easy sale. All the machines I've sold recently had one year warranty left and I always got close to asking price. The guys never even looked at them that close because the machine had a year warranty. The only major concerns they ever had was how to transfer the warranty coverage. I think you will get the same regardless of what you decided to do ( - depreciation) but the route of selling with the year of warranty will just be hands down easier and faster
