I agree, unfortunately only the family and those on the hill know for sure.
It’s sad, so sad. He was a key figure in S&R, promoting the sport and protecting our playgrounds.

He was a big part of the whole community. Everyone who has eaten at the moose has seen his art work and the lookout is yet another show of his true colours. No words can describe the loss.

This is devastating news for the entire community with all that Rene has done!! He's saved lives, Rescued, Promoted and went completely out of his way to do his best for the Sledding Community!! He majorly helped myself and my family when we needed it most!! I am very sad for this today and my thoughts and prayers are with his family especially during this!! RIP Good Sir and keep a watch over us and the rest of the Sledding Community as you have done in the past!! JJ

As this is pretty public already as we woundnt release it until it was all over some social media. It was already well known on Facebook then we released it. Rene's parents who are in sicamous wont be notified until tomorrow so please respect there family at this time.

he made me the rider I am today. I rode with him for many years even converted me to skidoo.

He called Thursday at 6 am alberta time. 5 am bc. We talked for 1.5 hrs about work,wives,lives,rides and some ribbing about my new alpha and riding with me before he gets busy with customers. We were real close for many years. Rip I dare ya. I’m so shocked

THat's sad news. Only rode with Rene once, and remember him waiting, and waiting, and waiting patiently while a bunch of us flatlanders got their stuff together in the parking lot. Big loss to the sledding community in general. RIP Rene.

I sat up all nite in shock over this. I had to do some verifying to ensure it was true and not one of those jokes u see every now and then.
Me and him we had an issue over some business and i can say he's one of the only men that reached out to make sure it was rite in the end, I have the upmost respect for him.
And hot damn could he ride a snowmobile.
May his legend live on
