Removal of willows and the cost

Im thinking i need a cat to knock down 40 achres of mature willows and need to be ripped out so it can be ready to farm. What do you think the cost will be for a bid.

I can't remember the guys name, I had some mulching down. That thing chews through damn near any thing. Did a 70 x 150 area. Cost me $800 think it was 200/hr. Cleans the stumps. Everything.

i work for a dealership that sells mulchers, that's the way to go as far as i'm concerned. No burning and No stumps.

I just did 22 acres couple yrs ago, but it was not to 100% clear. I had to keep all muture trees and was charged out buy the acre. I am also bidding on another 58 acres to maybe do this yr and again will not be 100% clear, but I do know that the machines were priced out at 250.00 per hr. Where do u live

I live in alberta but the land that needs to be brushed is in manitoba, just wondering whats the best method and it seems to be mulching.

Yup mutching works good i have a brush cutter for my tracked bobcat only good for up to 4 inch trees but still works awesome

all depends on the tree sizes, bigger the tree the bigger the mulcher $$$$$

I would say the biggest willows are 5 inches round and about ten to twelve feet tall and most are in clumps here and there but coves 40 achres.

I had a bobcat on tracks I think it was a S300 it was $200.00 per hour plus travel, in October, worked like a damm or in my words like a ski doo,lol

So your saying it drives super slow,always gets stuck, and its not worth the money you spend on it, lol, no i actually dont mind them. How many achres can you get cleared in an hour do you think.

I didn't have much area 40 X 60 ft, I think if your doing acres get a bigger track unit, they go for about $400.00 per hour.

I have worked with lots of multching guys its a $1 per hp so 400 hp $400 bucks an hour

S300 is a wheel unit must of been a t 300

Yup its true s means skid, t means track 300 means 3000 lbs lifting capacity, fun facts....

Mulching will get rid of the trees, but wouldn't it be pretty tough to farm the land afterwards - unless you plowed it really deep maybe?? There would be a pile of tree mulch left on the ground that will be decomposing for years - or do some mulchers throw the stuff into a truck or something? I've only seen the ones they use on cutlines and lease clearings - there's mulch left for years.

I don't know much about them or anything, but I know there's a company that can bale small trees and willows with their machine. Very little left over when they're done. Not sure if that's a big concern in your situation or not.

I haul a big ass mulcher around that's rigged up on an 850 JD crawler, with a 500hp cat engine mounted behind the machine to power the mulcher. these guys use this thing to break land, they don't only mulch the wood but go down into the dirt a foot or more. there isn't much left after it makes a few passes, I've never asked but I'll bet it's worth 4-500 bucks an hour. weighs over 50 ton, it's a pig to load and haul. next time I move it I'll ask some questions.

If you want to farm the land i would only guess you want the roots and stumps all gone. I think a big cat pushing into piles and spark it up. Need to get rid of the roots. Unless you mulch a couple feet down you will still have a major root issues. Cats work faster which saves you money
Ask for a Manitoba price i think Alberta will be way higher than Manitoba.
