You gotta know that where I have fire...there will be an engine not too far behind....lol...
I was in your neighborhood as I was going to slip by and say hi, and I noticed I couldn't get too close as there was a fire truck in front of your house. So I pulled out my camera and took a picture.:D:D

Now that's a good answer...
Thanks for the feedback guys, this is only the 3rd time we've used it...but man does it make a great turkey.

Cheerz

I could tell, the pot is still shiny....My wife gave me grief because I forgot to clean mine last fall. I ended up using a drill with a wire wheel on it to clean the outside of it on Sunday, didn't feel like scrubbing it with Steel Wool.

Sledbunny... Good thread!:D I had first hand experience with the Turkey deepfrier last Fathers Day at my brothers farm... Awesome Turkey Feast! A great way to enjoy a turkey and the women get a bit of a break as well. The propane deepfrier is a great cooking tool for camping as well as we have done chickens while camping... quik and easy.

By the way, after looking at your pictures it's time to stain that deck of yours.

How does that patio radiant heater work? I've always wanted to get one of those?

Yessss, I know the deck needs stained....now your sounding like the Wifey...lol. Deck will ger stained this summer. It gets a lot of traffic cause we have a small house.
The patio radiant heater works "awesome". One of the better buys I've made. Guest that smoke always thank me and it really makes a difference on those cool spring/fall evenings. We use it a lot.

sounds like your volunteering for a little brush work there Scotty. Maybe I'll post a picture of my deck and you can consult on what color I might like for it. :D :D mine also needs a little stain.

Yes you can reuse the oil for several sessions. Strain the oil and store in a cool dark place The oil will get darker in color but should be good for 3 or 4 uses atleast. Sometimes the seasoning and the marinade will ruin the oil before any cooking does because the oil takes on the flavor or your last cooking session.
:D

I have been told that if you throw in a couple of raw potatoes after the oil cools, the potatoes will soak up all the bad stuff and help clean the oil. I have not tried it yet as we don't use ours enough, we always end up tossing the oil. Has anyone tried this?

You can bet I will try it next time. Tonight we filtered the oil back into the container. It was surprisingly clean.

Your correct there buddy, with the warm weather upon us it BBQ time and we've already done a number of them.

Koby, some great pointers there, were looking to expand the deepfry plans this year and this helps. We bought the oil at Superstore this time and what a savings.

Cheerz.

A great and easy injection for a turkey is to mix Tender Quick (curing salt) and water. Inject small amounts all over the place and let sit for 3-4 hours. It brings out the real turkey taste without covering with cajun spice and what-not (Although the cajun-bbq injections are excellent too!). Just experiment, I've done a ton of 'em and never had a bad one. Rule of thumb is 3.5min per pound with an extra 5 for the pot....can't go wrong!
