Looking for some insight and maybe direction from folks that have delt with Fish and wildlife in the past. I received a call from a Fish and Wildlife office last night indicating that he was performing an investigation on me in relation to some youtube video that I had posted... All my stuff is quadding related and I can think of 2 videos that could possibly get me in trouble. The 2 consist of me doing water wheelies in a body of what looks like fresh water. This officer will be coming from Rocky to Edmonton and wants me to meet him at a fish and wildlife office next week. My question is:

Can I get in trouble do to some video posts that were submitted 2 years ago?

Should I meet up with this officer next week? almost sounds like a setup?

Any other thoughts please feel free to share

Yes the above information is true.

I have met with them each year, with the RCMP, we made handout's for the jamboree on Do's and Don't.

Tyler talks with them as well.

Video, pictures and game cameras at creeks or water ways.

The penalties for this can be HUGE, particularly if they're trying to use you as an example. If it was me, I'd get some legal advice before meeting with the CO.

Your friends are at risk also, when they shake you down and find pics posts videos ect from your buddies to you they go see them next and so on and so on...

people think we tell them not to post photo's and video's because we're being mean, and we feel they aren't right fit for our website......

I also suggest you seek legal advise prior to this meeting.

But the question is was it in fresh water? IE: river, stream.

Don't think Alberta has any body's of salt water that I know of?
Get some legal advise .

I believe he was referring to a mud hole with no connection to a fish bearing stream or wildlife habitat, such as the Mud Bogs at Lake Koocanusa mud flats in the springtime

spend the 500$ to have a lawyer there with you. as well, try to change the meeting to where you/the lawyer will be to save travel time for the lawyer(unless he already is). better yet, just do phone a call with your lawyer. he will be able to inform you on what you need to answer and what you do not need to during the "talk". the onus is on the crown(f & w) to PROVE any law you may have broken. anything you say that implicates you WILL be used against you.

sounds like a witch hunt. Must be a slow time for them.

I know . Being a smart ass but also a lot of water body's or small drainages that run into fish bearing waters are classified as fish bearing also.

Good thing you filmed that down in Montana or you could be in trouble.

Even if it's just a "SLEW ON PRIVATE LAND" I'd still maybe seek council just to have all your ducks in a row.
Regardless Under NO circumstances divulge any information without council present...
I'm sure Phillips, Van Teegim, y2y and all their "friends" have a new "mandate" against the OHV community..

Delete vids off youtube, and don't talk to the guy. They have nothing(little evidence) unless you give it to them.

Maybe call a Lawyer too.

this is going to be the way of the future... NDPee is on a witch hunt for sure, courtesy of y2y

been going on for longer than the NDP have been in power.... conservatives were looking for it too.

Technically, we've been asking for it since the announcement of the Castle Park closure... "Educate and enforce, not eliminate."

There are lawyers that deal with the fish cops exclusively, they are who you need.
