Rear super clamp extension

What's guys done to the super rear clamp to extend the flats to clamp the skid down??

I simply cut a small piece (8") of wood 2x4 and clamped that down on the track. Very simply and holds a larger area vs grabbing the skid.

Lay a foot of 2x2 in the spot where a rail would normally be. Works great.

Of course it would be. The sled is clamped to the deck and she ain't moving. Please explain why?
Dot, don't have a sense of redneck in them

The rear super clamp was not designed to have it clamped to wood lol

Bolt the 2x2 to the Superclamp if it makes you feel better. Not necessary though.

I strapped the back of Alpha down with a ratchet strap around the last deck tube the ramp sits on in an X pattern around tube.
Never moved and solid.
Hot melted the cut end of strap once I knew length.
No fraying no flopping extra strapping.

Not as fast as a super clamp but works great.

It's a clamp. It doesn't know what it is clamping, as long as it clamps.
If we were clamping down a freightliner, well then i would agree that it isn't being used as designed, but clamping down a sled is exactly how it was designed. Whether or not you need a spacer between a rail or the track for the clamp to reach makes no difference. Just like you can ratchet strap the bumper/rail/track/whatever, as long as the sled is held solid with something rated for the weight.

But your only clamping the track at that point

I have many miles using the clamp and wood setup, no issues whatsoever. If you think that the skid is going to come out of the track you have bigger issues and shouldn’t be going riding anyway lol.

Why? Other than you THINK it is a problem, please explain why? you still haven't given one valid reason. Are you saying you can't even use a strap to hook onto the track? Only the rail? Who says that? The rules in BC as I see them is that you need 3 points of attachment and to have a "secured load". Now a front superclamp could be defined as only 1 attachment point as even though it touches 2 skis, it only is 1 point on the truck. I highly doubt you would get a ticket for that.

Build a bar that goes across the rail and attaches to a tie down on the opposite side of the SC. Make the attachment adjustable so you can get the right amount of down pressure on the SC. It turns it in to a two part clamp but should work quite good. Hopefully I explained it good enough so you understand what I am saying. I am not good at the explaining part.
