Rear Fox Evols

Are the rear Fox Flot evols a worth while upgrade over the float / coilover combo found on a 2015 Snopro? I have a line on a great deal for the whole rear skid setup, and just wondering if its worth the $350 jump over just a set of rails. I'm putting a 162 track on in place of the 153 anyway, so I need rails one way or the other.

Seems to me like its a no brainer, but if it's not much difference, I might just grab a ser of rails.

You will only get opinions. Shocks and suspensions are personal preference.
The Evols will give you the ease of trying 10 different set ups in an hour. Easy to adjust. However, I run my rear evol so stiff they are basically locked out- so I don’t have to worry about pissing around with air pressures for different riding throughout the day. And if the snow starts to set up, I can simply add more air to the front- if I even bother. Which most of the time I don’t change anything.
So, I could go back to a coil over, because I like to put on miles, rather than dick with air pressures or shock settings all the time. Which I don’t, but if something isn’t feeling right, I can make quick and easy changes.
You may need to take 3 hours or more on a good snow day to set them up for how you ride. Which is a really good thing. You’ll see quickly how suspension set up completely change rideability.

Now, if I had a chance, I’d gobble up a set of the “new” evols with 3 position dampening. Now those are sweet.

is it worth it? Totally up to you. I like the Evols. Would I call them an upgrade, sure, maybe for a whooped-out trail.

I upgraded to the evol in the rear skid on my HCR, I was happy with it. Had way less sag out from ice and snow during and at the end of the day. Didn’t notice a major difference in riding characteristics but noticed a big difference while pushing hard through moguls on the trail, never bottomed out as hard like the stock float 3, and on drops to flat landings and accidental flat landings it handled it better.
