I've been burning dead standing Jack Pine. It is in and area that has witches Broom. A lot of twisted Gnarley branches at the top to contend with. I wish we had Lodgepole pine in this area.

Jack and lodge pole are kinda the same. You thinking bull pine or yellow pine, they’re the same to.
Don’t think yellow/bull pine is in your area though.

I remember dad telling me of driving school bus in the winter. They abandoned the rads because the snow drifts were so bad. They plwed temoray roads in the farmers field with Bulldozers.

I learned something today.
“non-botanists often call Lodgepole pine Jack pine, which is actually a separate pieces, Pinus banksiana. Jack pine grows east of the Canadian Rockies but if you think you may be looking at a Jack pine, there is an easy way to tell the difference; the cones of Jack pines grow at an angle to the branch, with the cone tips pointing away from the trunk. The cones of Lodgepole pines also grow at an angle, and they point toward the truck.”
That excerpt came from Bed Gadd in Handbook of the Canadian Rockies.

There's also white bark pine in the East Kootenays( common up high at Panorama and Forster area, It's endangered apparently. Lake Louise was fined for cutting a few down.
