Hey guys i got a Qwestion or two about my sled 2005 arctic cat m5 141''.
I want to buy a new belt for it. So how do i brake one in. I also want to buy some high performance spark plugs for it. Do the high preformance spark plugs make a big differance?. And the last qwestion is what kind of oil should i run in my sled. I would like to run arctic cat synthetic oil in it. Is it a good oil to run in my sled? thanks

You should be able to cut some holes in the hood in the normal vent locations and install some screens. Oil is a personal thing, we have been having a tough time finding Arctic Cat oil so we have switched to Shell as it's a lot more common. To break in the belt you can put it on a track stand and run it up and down a bit, or just take it easy on it the first few miles, lots of different theories out there though.

New belt- ride belt for roughly 20km no faster then 60km/h this allows the fibers in the belt to stretch evenly

Sparkplugs-Use BR9EY ngk thats what arctic cat uses ....you dont want to hot of a spark or your goin to do damage and if you go lighter spark you will loose power .....USE THESE PLUGS for optimum performance theres a reason arctic cat recomends them.

Oil- I run arctic cat synthetic DONT just use cheap 2stroke oil this will make your powervalves stick and sled will run like crap it has to be synthetic with the powervalves....I recomend arctic cat oil good enough for warrenty good enough for me. You spent thousands on your sled whats a few extra bucks on oil to make sure your ride runs as it should.

never heard of breaking in a belt, when my belt broke i just threw on a new one and went hard. Some people do break them in but why? Personally i havent found a difference if you "brerak in a belt" or if you just ride as hard as normal when its frist thrown on

A properly brke in belt will give you much longer service life. I like to put mine up on a stand and rotate it for a mile ore so to loosen it up. then ride it easy for another 20 miles. My first belt on my M1000 I got over 1000 miles on it before it finaly gave up the ghost.. Just my :twocents:

Breaking in a belt adds a phenominal amount of extra life to them, lots, and i mean LOTS of guys dont do it cause they think its a waste of time, take the time breaking them in and youll notice your not throwing on the spare belt so soon. PS death toll- You spelt question wrong :)

What i do to breakin belts is to throw on the new belt on the ride down to the truck that way it gets 20k or so of easy running then its good to go and i dont have to baby it around when your actually o the hill

I wash all my new belts in soapy water then rinse and dry. It gets the residue off before it can get on your clutch. Gentle break in of 10-20 km, the into the spare belt holder. I change the belt at the start of every year, just cause they are cheap.:d Haven't had to replace one yet. Starting to get a good collection of low mileage used 020 belts.

If you buy Shell synthetic snowmobile oil, its the same as Cat, just cheaper. Shell has it on sale in November.

The best i heard is to wash the belt with warm soap and water to get rid of the oils on the belt, and than just take er easy for 40-60km, this is the advice i got and has worked good for everybody i know.
