That’s actually not a bad idea. My g4 skidoo has been one of the most reliable sleds I’ve ever owned.

Not if the 9R is properly clutched.. I have a 21 and 22 Matrix, both 850 Khaos 165’s, I demo’d a 9R 165 Khaos, pulled the 72’s weights and put in 76’s, spinning 8300-8350 at 5500-6000’. It’s still in break in, and the 850’s don’t catch it. I don’t do aftermarket clutching, I use OEM springs weights etc. and keep them fresh.
If aftermarket clutching will improve the 850’s, I assume it will the 9R as well.

You would get top dollar for it now, for the chaincase and drive axle.

I wasn’t. Just staying the fact that the 9R are coming out way to light.

You'll have to explain what we are looking at here. Is this your 9R with the P85 that is now split like the P22 - suggesting the 9R is very hard on primaries?

JH this is how we did it, ours was broken just like yours. Drilled it and got the sheave to break off the metal internal taper. Then slowly ground down the taper until it released from the crank shaft. Be careful when drilling , you don't want to drill into the oil line or crank seal behind the clutch.

My buddies 22 boost blew the clutch a full throttle. He was standing off centre to the right, and on its way out of the hood. It tore his Klim pants leg and ripped the arm pit of his jacket. Full warranty and Polaris is crediting him $500 for his snow gear. Never did find the clutch.

My buddy Russell Liba was practicing on the track at one of our NWSA races way back when and blew a clutch off his supermod sled and it went through the guard, the hood and they found pieces of it on the opposite straightaway on a 3/8 oval track. Serious business.

for all the dumb sh*t they do stop rides for primary clutches exiting the snowmobile on a regular basis is what i would consider pretty serious safety issue. I dont know how you can hold that thing wide open without any concern johnny good on ya lol. Id have PTSD after that
