Question for BC Log Truck Drivers or...

Well we just drove to Vernon on Saturday and back yesterday, about 10 hours each way, and based on your theory, there are a whole lot of chip truck drivers on the hiway pulling everything else, cause anyone who would refer to the majority of the drivers we encountered as professional , would be severely stretching the truth.

Keep regionality in mind as there are not really a whole lot of transport trucks around Prince George as it's far less of a transport corridor than Hwy1 or Hwy5. PG people will push back because they like to think their highways are busy but after living there for 20 years and now in the Southern Interior for 10 there is no comparison to highway volume. What I am getting at is while on the major routes we get sick of all the poor truck drivers mostly of 53' vans they don't have the number up there and conversely there is a denser distribution of sawmills and pulp mills so there are more chip truck drivers and they also stand out more.

Lots of chip piles all over the highways where we live. I could not imagine what it would look like if they had to come down canfors goat trail roads. But then again I am sure the logging trucks are better maintain than the crap they drive.

Both yourself and Bnorth are correct, there are far fewer freight trucks in our region and therefore dont stand out nearly as much. I have seen some of the chaos on the TransCanada and yes the term "professional driver" refers to the fact that they are paid to do the job, not that they are professional in terms of skill.

The highway jobs are dominated by English 2nd language drivers whereas up here there really are not many of them. To cold I guess.
