Is the front storage compartment supposed to throw heat for goggle warming or did I hear this wrong from my dealer? Finally got 60kms on my new Summit today and it was rather cold and I could have used the warmth to thaw my goggles a few times.

You got a brp screen kit on your sled? That helps out lots keeps the snow and moisture comeing up into it! But in my experience its never to hot in there!

Mine has no extra heat and tends to collect snow from the air.

Mine worked well enough to keep my googles unthawed the a couple weekends ago! I don't have any complaints about it. I also have the vent screens on my sled.

I you ride hard enough in the near zero temperatures it will produce enough heat to melt the cheese on your sandwich but other than that it doesn't do much

That sucks, I was really banking on that feature, rode a few newer cats and their setup for warming works slick. Besides the point, this is the first XM i've owned and so far I love it, a delight to ride!

I made a couple of holes in the glovebox on the wall that seperates the speedo area. Works much better but not a fan of the glovebox for goggles,I recommend the goggle warmer bag that goes on you clutch cover for goggles. makes a snow/ice/wet pair fresh in minutes

Thanks, I may look into that actually, i'd like to run two pairs of goggles so a guy could switch to a dry pair whenever they're needed.

I installed this bag this year and I think it will work well. There is heat there and it is just going to depend on whether or not the bag will breathe enough.

The speedo box is a good storage place but not for goggles in the real word. The people who sell and don't ride other than on those warm spring days are oblivious to what real riders experience.

In my opinion was you put the goggles in there they somewhat melt but soon as u put them on again they fog right up from the humidity kinda like putting your goggles on in a garage or house then stepping outside. The goggle bag on the clutch cover is the way to go.

If any of you are familiar with the new cats, you can buy a storage bag that goes right in the same spot our storage compartment is pretty much on the XM's and the heat from the engine rises into the bag and it thaws out goggles in minutes, it works really slick, and I think I had the impression that doo's whole idea behind that compartment was the same. I had to rent a cat in the mountains last year so I got to use it first hand. I would think if a guy could drill some holes in the box it should allow heat to rise through the plastic and you should be able to put a frog skin in the bottom of compartment to keep snow out or something. I'm not sure about the 13' XM's and prior but my new 14' has a huge shroud around the primary and secondary that is there for cooling, as the dealer told me to not hack it apart under any circumstance. And after the first ride I noticed it isn't overly hot with that shroud in place, so my question is if the aftermarket goggle warmer for the clutch area gets enough heat?

I don't think it throws a lot of heat so I keep spare gogs and gloves with my tools in the gloves there. I don't trust the tool kit holder on my clutch with the tools to change my belt.

If you drill only on the side toward the gauge cluster it is not part of the intake and it will allow more warm air into the box. Not a lot but I would think it would help. You are better off removing the hood to do this as you can make sure you know where you are drilling.I don't think in most conditions it will get hot enough to dry out your goggles. The under hood bag works good in most conditions, didn't work worth a crap this weekend with the cold weather and fine snow dust getting under the hood. My goggles just got wet under there. Btw. Don't pull your back out lifting the hood. That thing is heavy.lol.
