Here's a great site to do some research. It tells you all the different sizes and weights of almost every tire out there. If it was me, I would go on Ebay and pick up some rear hubs for an '03 Predator, and run a set of 25" or 26" Maxxis Zillas.

Doesn't matter what the machine is heavy tires require more power to turn them. Go with the lightest rim and tire combo you can find.
You can go a lot of places with 25's anyways. I wouldn't go bigger than 26s though. Heres some dyno numbers, how much power do you want?
400 polaris 37hp stock
trail mod 400 53hp
race mod 400 72hp
416 powermax 92hp
416 powermax on alcohol 110hp

its still 2 stroke hp regardless how you look at it

and although they make GREAT power they need rpms to do it and if you cant get the tires spinning your not going to get that. which is the problem with large tires and low rpm.

i agree 25's zillas or mudbugs inmho zillas being the lighter choice.

I have 400 explorer thats probley in the 55HP range, and it spins 27 no problem in high.
Word of wisdom leave the bike stock, run 26" tires and injoy.
27" with 50HP WILL break stuff.

yes, when you start adding power, you tend to find the next weak part in the drive train.

took the little beast out on the weekend, runs like a top, broke it in, on the gas lots. spins the stock tires no problem, they are a little worn, but went through everything thrown at it. 26" tires would be max unless more power was added. will look into the lightest tire that will fit.
