Do the cops,or fish cops have any authority or right to open my quad box?.....they ain't getting into my old lady's box,I know that lol.
This is great news! I'd be super embarrassed if they seen all the kinky things I carry in there.I don't know if they have the right to physically open your quad box but I do believe they have the right to ask you open and produce the contents.
as for your old lady's box, only you and her gynecologist can enter that one.

They have to have reasonable and probable grounds to look without permission. Such as a beer can next to your quad, smell of alcohol, etc.
LOL, I ride in a group that has a 10 year old that drives a Polaris Ace. We let him carry the refreshments. Would never be expected that he has Twisted teas in his cooler.
They have more authority then city cops, they do not need paper work to look through your vehicle/quad. That's why you see them doing routine road checks also. I've know of someone stopped on highway at BC border to alberta looking for fish, later to find a big bag of weed. Then turn you over to local cops.

Our group is so slow / old / or broke down that the fish cops have long gone home by the time we get to the check stop ....
We simply have more patience....
They do not need a search warrant to proceed. If you are respecting the laws shouldn't be a problem if they do feel the need to look into you're boxes. My past experiences is that you've done something in order for them to go there anyways. This is incorrect. They have the same legal authority as a peace officer. With the exception that they can i force federal law as well is provincial
I totally agree.... However I have ran into the odd over zealous fish cop out to prove a point . However very few of these, thank goodness. The only thought i have about this is, if an officer wants to search my UTV they are welcome as i have nothing to hide.
This same thought goes for when i'm on the water with my boat or on shore fishing. They are just doing their job in which we as tax payer's hired them to do, they don't know you anymore then you know them. I have been checked several times by wardens while fishing and NEVER EVER had problem.
IMO if you have a problem with them checking your little box....maybe your hiding something and your the problem.
I do find some people a little laughable that they get on the righteous RIGHT's issue when these people are just doing there job. But when certain bad thing happen such as drinking and riding and someone gets hurt or killed, maybe it could had been prevented with a simple search and confiscation. Maybe the next time might be you getting plowed into by an idiot drinking and riding his OHV.
In reality, your rights are only as good as your honesty, if this topic is an issue, maybe and most likely your hiding something.
