First off: Rogers (piece of $h1T)

Black berry 9100 pearl (good phone)

I recently had a horrible 5 week to the day experience with rogers.

Started with the micro usb port in the phone where the charger plugs into.
The brass port sunk into the phone. I took my phone to the rogers cellcom store in south common. I was told it would be sent away for a warranty repair and back with in 10-15 business, likely shorter.

On the 15th day I went into the store cause I hadn't gotten a call, thinking that maybe they had forgotten. Nope. 2 days ago I received a text from rogers tell me to "call the store to discuss warranty/repair concerns". I went into the store and was told "There is evidence of physical damage", so your phone will not be covered by the 1 yr warranty.

I called ($h1tty) Rogers customer service. I Spoke to 6 useless people with no useful information. I was offered a replacement of my phone for $179. That sure didn't seem right to me cause I had already payed for the damn phone when I signed my 3yr contract. Why would I pay more for the same phone that is now older?. That wasn't going to happen. I had 2 of those morons tell me that I couldn't renew my contract and get another good deal on a phone cause I hadn't been in that contract for 1yr. Again, none of those options were going to work for me. I was also set up with a loaner phone that was so old it didn't even have a camera. I asked about adjusting my bill so as to not pay for the data plan and picture/video msging that I was unable to dream of useing. I was told that "if I wanted to cancel my data plan I would be required to pay $5 a month for the remained of my term". I personally don't believe in paying for something I can't use.

Finally with a lot of luck I was able to speak to a women who didn't have an accent who understood how I was getting raped. She confirmed my thoughts all the others I spoke to clearly weren't aware of the proper way to conduct a business. After 6yrs minus 1mnth since I first got a cell phone that the customer shouldn't be told about someones make believe rules.

I know this is a long rant but I would like to hear any good or bad storys anyone else has about thier service provider.

When you know you are getting ripped off & you know the phone call is being recorded I encourage you all to ask the "customer service (useless) representative" thier honest opinion and if they think the made-up policy is true and just. They will 100% of the time defer the answer. They made me want to pull my hair out.

Was scammed from the very beginning. Asked if they were anyway affiliated with Bell, was told no.

then explained that I needed a phone that would get great service because I am in the bush alot and want something that will work. Was told that this one phone would be perfect for me. So bought it and signed a 2 yr contract.

2 weeks after having the phone, it wouldn't ring, texts wouldn't come through and when it did work the delay was deplorable. And I couldn't get reception in my house, I had to go outside to get any reception.

They wouldn't replace the phone it had to be sent away.... fine. but after being sent away 3 times and never being fixed, I got pi**ed. They gave me every excuse int he book and told me my only option was to outright buy a new phone or get the exact same thing that I had. Which turned out to be biggest piece of junk, one rep told me that he would never have sold anyone that phone as they are notorius for their issues.

The Salesman and his manager both got a very nasty letter from me as well as dealing with a very pi**ed off little firecracker in store. They figured out real quick that because I am a woman, that doesn't mean that I don't know what I want or that you can lie to me.

I would never tell anyone to deal with virgin mobile, you are better off paying a little more on your billing and getting some customer service.

Service: Rogers
I have been with Rogers for a couple years and have hate every second I think I have seen full bars a handful of times
I call customer service and they just say it's probably your sim card so I got a new one and still sucks but I don't want to cancel cuz they want over 300$ to cancel so I always steer people I know away from Rogers because to sum them up they are beyond brutal.

Service: TELUS
I have been with Telys for 12 years and the last 3 years has been a nightmare I will be in the middle of Edmonton and the phone has no signal, 1 bar and barely been able to dial out, echos on both parties ends.
I call customer service and they just say it's probably your sim card so I was told to get a new phone.....I have had 8 phones now and they keep sending out my current phone for repair it has a year warrenty the phone has been sent out 4 times this is the 5th now.The last person through their customer service said that they would just give me a new phone no plan changes or anything this time straight across new phone. Appearently he didnt leave good enough notes so they either would put $127 towards a new plan after i pay out this one but HELLS NO!!! So 5th send away and this loaner has just as bad service. I don't want to cancel cuz they want over $450 to cancel. SOOO GRRR

Rogers doesn't have service anywhere outside of Edmonton, and rarely has great service in Edmonton.

Switched to Bell last year and almost always has service. It even keeps service the whole way from Edmonton to McBride (with the exception of a few places past the BC border), which with my old Rogers phone I would lose service outside of spruce grove, catch service in Edson and lose it immediately outside, get service in Hinton and again lose it. The last time you'd have service with rogers is when you pass jasper.

Bell uses the Telus towers in Western Canada. So where Telus works Bell will work.

I find Rogers works better in Edmonton than the Telus phone I had. I wish it worked in McBride, Im still waiting to hear back from Rogers if they plan on putting a tower there in the future. When im in Camrose there is no long distance back to Edmonton which is nice. I have no other issues with Rogers. My girlfriend had Virgin Mobile and after changing her number once as her bill was over triple what is should cost because of some phantom text messages that put major charges on the phone number. She got a new number and has never used Text messaging and the same thing, there is no customer service there, they say to go in to a kiosk and they will deal with the issue, you go there and they say to phone in, and back and forth, not worth the time or energy to fight with them.
