Are these new pros really that unreliable as everyone makes them sound? I'm coming off a decently modded M1 that's never let me down and I want to try a new pro but not if I can't trust it. It's between a new PC or Pro

My neighbor's '12 Pro made 400km and a piston/ring went out of it. It's getting rebuilt and then it's for sale if anyone is interested in a '12 155" Pro.

Not sure if there were any changes to the '13's in the engine dept. or not but I think they aren't any less reliable than anything else so long as you do the belt drive break in as per the manufacturer's procedure and clamp the driveshaft

we have 4 pro s that we ride with one 12 has broken the crank and a deto, the other 12 a broken piston skirt causing a broken rod = a complete new engine .one 13 has done in 3 drive belts and the other 13 has a broken driveshaft not great. i ride a 13 doo and it would not start when it got cold ,trigger coil i am told other than it has been ok ,but the 11 etec that comes with us has not been a very reliable unit either .crank bearings, 2 corner seize at sicamous last year .not to impressed with the durability of the new engines from poo or doo so far ..imo

My 2011 had it's first issue in 2500 miles, changed exhaust probe/sensor and back at it... not enough miles on my 2013 (280) to really comment....

I had a 2012 for two weeks this winter and loved it but must have gotten a bad one as my top end blew at 668 miles, was rebuilt by the dealer right away and two days later she blew up again. So had to say goodbye and now I ride a 2012 doo and am loving it, haven't given up on Polaris totally but it will take a lot of convincing to get me off my xp!

1500 miles on my assault and no issues, just changed my spark plug boots due to a miss fire and its been good since. I've bounced off trees and had some hard crashes and jumps off cornices and never bent/broke anything yet, knock on wood!

the 3 other pros in our group have been great so far, one with injector issues and the 13 with a broken shaft but its been good since the clamp was installed. Couple cats blew clutches apart and a doo with a broken rear skid but either than that everything's been good.

2-strokes are 2-strokes.. Some last longer than others, some don't quite last as long.

riders range from 20 to 52 years ,us older guys have all had sleds for years ,and we are seeing alot of failures . the drive belt issue on the 13 pro s is total b,s. same as the driveshaft .the 12 pro that went down this week was at home 2300 ft. warm day ,lots of snow .and after riding for about 2 hours '

Haha I think it's hilarious all this damage on new sleds. My pro has been solid and so has the other ones I ride despite a broken clutch spring and a broken steering linkage on buddies. No serious issues yet. They have seen some abuse and held up good thus far.

My '12 Pro had been solid right up to 972 miles, then the primary clutch decided to break in half. At the dealer now. It should be warranty (I hope !).

Sent from my iPad when I should be sledding.

Pro reliable. Yup I think so. Does chit happen sometimes. Yup.. like they do with all.
My 2012 the Primary split in half, was warrantied Ty and Trent Backus got me ripping in about 3 hrs flat. Other than that.. wicked.. Once the tps was adjusted, a little gremlin that plagues pros from time to time.

2013, so far so good. Things that could effect reliability of.
1. Belt drive: Not breaking it in properly, and not having the proper track tension. If the track is too loose it has been proven to mess with the quickdrive belt system
2. Drive shaft. Yup that was a crapper, mine has been fine and we got it in quickly to install the clamp.

Pros run hotter than most, so watch your temp gauge. Mine likes to be at around 135 to 138 temp. Scratchers down on hard pack and you'll be fine.

Each sled has it's own gremlins from time to time. Choose the brand you want, but don't ever have a false sense of security that it will be "trouble free". Sometimes it's in the design as technology advances, and sometimes it's the user. If you expect to have a perfect sled with no glitches you're in a dream world. Take up something like scrapbooking if your expectations exceed reality.

For 15 g you don't get a trouble free sled? That's strange why would someone want to experience that LOL.

.

need an explanation for that one please. I'm curious because the driveshaft is hard mounted on both ends, and there is free play in the track against the drivers and free play in the belt and gears and stationary mounting of all the bearings and shafts. Other than rotational forces, it shouldn't have any other movement to change the center to center or cause dynamic loading on the belt. Is the chassis itself is flexing/moving or parts in the rotating assembly are not properly balanced?
