Yeah I'm sorry your right take it out on the dealer that gave him a free sled! I'm such an idiot!
Who said anything about taking it out on the dealer? The dealer is just trying to save face for all the trouble with their demo, which is comendable, but I don't think it makes up for all the problems.
Free or not why would you take a sled that has broke down 3 times and then blew an engine for a year? Do you really feel like waisting a day towing it out of the mountains or paying for the chopper?
Sure it's nice of the dealer to offer it for the year, but if it's about as reliable as a paper mache homemade helicopter in a rainstorm what good is it?
Post up the name of the dealer - it really doesn't matter though-that sled is still a turd.

I really really feel the difference between the 13 and the 12. It simply has More oomph and more refined handling. Being out last Saturday for the Ladies ride here in Nelson I was riding with the lady who bought my 12. When I went to jump on him there was a considerable difference in power snap and zip. I feel the Belt drive contributes to this awakening of power. Was it good last year with the chain drive yup. Is it better this year with the belt drive. In my opinion it is a good thing when you consider the difference in performance. Try and 12 and a 13 side by side you'll feel it. People wanted more oomph and now it has more oomph.
20percent less rotating mass to spin the belt as compared to the chain. more rotating mass less power. Less rotating mass more power, hence the added efficiency of the belt drive.

Modman, When you are in the area come riding with my boss Art and I, he is my sled teacher. He runs a 2013 Pro RMK with a Belt drive with a 2.5 cammo extreme and he runs it at 260 hp right now with a boondocker racegas kit.. ZERO issues. He's giving you an opening invite to come ride with us.

Hi MOMMA, i wouldn't waste to much time explaining to Maxwell why we are not all riding the great BRP... he thinks we are blind.. I think he kinda has tunnel vision!! In 08 the new xp had issues but let us not forget, that was innovation!!! Oh well tomorrow is another day!!!

I totally agree with you, it is very noticable, the belt drive does perk the "under" powered poo up... as for the glued drive shaft I personally think that there is a very good explanation as to why polaris went to it and it has nothing to do with weight however it is unfortunate that it may have been a little under engineered for mass production!!! My guess is they were trying to stay under the weight of the steel drive shaft, which they are barely, hence the reason that the stub insert that is glued is so short..... and yet develope a driveshaft that would be affordable to mass produce and yet run true enough for the belt drive system, especially without a tensioner... I have run a couple new 2012 steel drive shafts on my lathe to check them and they don't run nearly as true as the 2013!!!

Ours was ridden nicely, broke in nicely and we followed all the steps as per the dealer. They gave it to us hoping that they could sway us away from cat, but that sled has had more problems than the last 5 years combined on our cats. The only problem we have had on any cats since 2008 was a voltage regulator on a 2012 m800, it kept blowing fuses whenever we would use the hand warmers, figured it out in a couple hours after blowing a few fuses one day and just stopped using the hand and thumb warmers for the rest of the trip, problem solved

HUH? how the heck did I get drug into this? my comment was that if the belt drive is maintained properly then there is no issue. I originally asked because there seemed to be a disconnect with how track tension would affect the belt. Its been cleared up for me, thanks? But if there's something I said that was misinterpreted as an insult to Polaris riders everywhere then I'm happy to bring my little underpowered 600 out for a rip next time I'm home and someone can school me I guess.

As for the belt drive perking the sled up, that 13 pro felt very gutless, never rode an 11 or a 12, but it was definitely underpowered for an 800. Buddies etec smoked it all day long, climbs, flats, trees etc.

Here's the deal; People don't like to be accountable for their screw-up's!! The big boulder you hit miraculously turned out to be a pebble...the 16" diameter stump became a small twig...the fact that you screwed up your clutching or didn't pay attention to your gauge and over revved the pi$$ out the motor is someone else fault. Granted, some issues are legit design and warranty issues, but lets be honest; the bulk of issues with any brand are miss use, abuse, operator, and POOR maintenance, poor fuels and oils etc. Clean your clutches...use high grade fuel w/o ethanol....grease your skid...give the old girl a wash from time to time etc... Treat your sled good and it will treat you good. 1700 trouble free miles on my 2012 Pro Assault, but I look after it!! Actually the clutches stuck open once...it ended up being due to the original belt being worn down too much - due to the 1650 trouble free miles and wedged itself down too far in the clutches. DAMN BELTS SHOULDN'T WEAR OUT SO QUICKLY:D

absolutely. quality oils and a good warmup will increase the life of your sled 5 fold.

i always let me sleds warm up until the coolant is circulating. while 90% of the time the guy next to me in the parking lot just rolled up with 2 uncovered sleds going down the highway at a combined temperature of -50. then fires it up and backs it painfully off the sled deck then bombs down the trail at 100km.h. yep that sled will last! LOL

Shockingly, the `13 Pro has been an awesome sled and totally reliable (no matter what I`ve read on the net). Shockingly, it seems to have plenty of power (weird 'cause I read different on the net). Wierd thing is it is a lot of fun to ride ('cause I did read that on the net). Bottom line, for me, it's the best sled I`ve ever owned out of the box (out of about 29, even a decade of Doo`s).

But I'm special lol 'cause i don't believe everything I read on the net. I ask questions off the net, to real live people. I found it funny that my local Doo dealer stills stocks complete motors (reason I left Doo way back when). Cat dealer doesn't ( reason I went to Cat way back when). In my small world, I have never talked to a Pro rider that needed to replace a motor (wierd 'cause I read they all blow up).
So I took the plunge and liked it. It's like owning that custom I was never quite able to buy. I can just focus on making me and the sled work as one (ohhmmm) every ride by working the on little things. It's like I`m 50 again `cause I can burn up a tank non-stop and load up looking forward to tommorrow.

Believe what you want, but you have to think a bit too. If someone continually posts up about something they do not own, they have to have an hidden agenda or issues. Hidden agendas may be they just like to be mean and nasty and put down anyone who is happy with their ride , or they feel like their brand has a need for a cheerleader, they're pissed never finished engineering school, or they are just lonely so talking about the best selling sled is a good place to get responses. Possible issues for these posters, may be lack of riding time, low self asteem, attention disorders or simply envy.

I don`t know, I may be way out to lunch here too. Maybe it`s just cool today to be a hater on these social forums. If that`s the case then I`m happy I used the old method of making my own desicion. Get out riding and enjoy. Ask your own questions in the hills and if you get a chance take 'em for a ride. Let that be the real deal maker. You may be surpised with what you find in the real world.
At least you won't be able to blame anyone or anything for making the decision you do make.

The Pros ride and handle nice but they are a POS for reliability. Seems everytime it snows my sled is always in the shop. Nice, but JUNK.

Wind chill does not affect objects that are already at the ambient temperatures. If its -25 and the already cold sleds are being towed at 100km/h. The sleds are still only -25 along with the oil/coolant. The wind won't reduce the energy state of the sled to a point that is lower than the air itself, only get it to that point faster if its warm.

Just sayin!!

I had a pretty good "discussion" with a customer about this very subject....he was certain his D-6 would not start due to wind chill on the lowbed.

Haha. wont warm up as fast. I guess any kind of block heater won't work as well if there is a lot of wind. Maybe neglible amounts, but must be a little.
